Harden SHOULD win it because he is literally the most valuable player to his team (Without him the Rockets are a bottom feeder) but Giannis will win it because of the Bucks record.

By that logic do you think Bran should've won last year then?

Where are Nuggets without Jokic?

Remember that Monte Morris, Malik Beasley and Torrey Craig is playing 30+ mpg

It's not about who's the most valuable player to THEIR team. It's about who's the most valuable player on ANY team.

Giannis has a far better team record and less help.

Same for Jokic.

hardens ridiculous stats while keeping his team afloat is astonishing. I'm more impressed he's averaging .8 blocks a game.

How say you, ISH?

The MVP award is voted by the media. So the MVP is... most valuable... to the media. Which is the best story? What can you sell best? Steve Nash had a very good story... has 2 MVPs. Shaq's story was not that good... 1 MVP. Etc.

So which is the better story this year?

Giannis. He sells best. He is the MVP.

Well, you could think it's about story but is "story" just a code word for "#1 or #2 seed and best player on that team" because that formula tends to work for nearly every single MVP for many years now. The only exception I can think of is Westbrook and KG (I think KG was #3 seed). I'm too lazy to look it up but I'm pretty sure the MVP goes to the #1 or #2 seed team with the best player on that team.

On the other hand... MVP means something else. Most valuable. To whom? His team? You may argue Jokic then. I think MVP is not the best player. Not even best player on the best team. It's most valuable as far as 'recognition' is concerned. Or controversy. By whom? Well... who are the voters? There is your answer.

I'm sure someone has done the research and I'm pretty sure MVP goes to the #1 or #2 seed team's best player. Almost always in fact. It's not a fantasy story award like you say. I'm starting to think you're a Kobe fan the way you keep trying to downplay the MVP when it's quite literally a near formula award. Someone needs to research MVP winners and what seed they were. It's almost always gone to the 1 or 2 seeded team as far as I can remember. I'd say a good 90% of the time anyway. And how does GIannis "sell" better than Harden? An international player that not many can relate to or "The Beard' Harden and all his crazy scoring antics? Harden is the better "sell" but what are you even talking about in terms of who can "sell" more. Jerseys? Basketball game tickets? Ratings? Those would all be Harden by a long shot so I'm not sure what you mean at this point.

One is a choker and the other is a choker and played illegally.

Webber is known for choking and identifies with Harden.

Rose intentionally injured Kobe in the finals and could've done great harm to his career; I can't believe everyone ignores it and considers him a wonderful guy. He played illegally just like Harden.

Easy to see why they voted Harden.

Kobe fans whining about dirty plays is classic considering Kobe literally got suspended for a dirty play (against Ginobili iirc)

OK. Why does Shaq have only 1 MVP? Same as Derrick Rose. Nash has more than Shaq. (I was a huge fan of Nash. Still.)
