Said the sjw/leftists in 2010.
Whoops.
Uber and Lyft replaced cab unions and now have a combined 500k to 1 million drivers, most of whom are American born.
Guess that example doesn't work anymore.
"Yeah, but, but... it's still true for everything ELSE!!!!!"
:facepalm
If you care about wealth parity AT ALL, your #1 political concern and priority, the #1 thing you voice a position on, should be immigration. And if you dont like what someone else (i.e. Trump) is proposing, you should spend the majority of your political rants proposing equally or more effective alternatives that are you willing to support. REALISTIC ones.
Otherwise competition at the low end of the wage scale will always drive pay down. And minimum wage laws provide ZERO... yes, ZERO sustainable impact. They simply drive inflation so that the guy at the bottom makes 100k a year, but the cost of a gallon of milk becomes 30 bucks and he can still barely feed his family day to day. That's basic, freshman level economics. Even Draz understands it.
Guys like nanners, maxfly, bladefd, andgar, hardtop queer-o etc, these guys try so hard to sound smart and progressive by being economic contrarians, but if they're not talking about immigration reform FIRST, their complaints are all hollow and phony. They're pretentious try-hards who dont have the balls to speak against the mainstream liberal narrative. They're parroting the views of a media controlled by people who WANT to exploit them. Who WANT to drive wealth imbalance. Hence the "anti-immigration is RACIST" narrative. And the liberal puppets, they all fall in line. They're TERRIFIED of the 'racist' label. It's become the salem witch trials, the mccarthyism of the 50s. And liberals are the one it's being used to keep in line. And it works, because they're born cucks and followers.
Simple as dat, boyz.

Yes. That's the point. "Taxi" drivers are historically immigrants, and what's left of traditional taxi services are typically comprised of immigrants. Before the proliferation of Uber and Lyft, most leftists would have told you that's because it's a job "Americans dont want to do anymore!"
Sure, in NYC and probably places like SF or Toronto you may still get a lot of foreign Uber and Lyft drivers, simply because the populations in those cities are highly international. But go to most cities and book a driver on Uber or Lyft, you are FAR more likely to get an American born driver today than you would have been 10 years ago when calling up a Taxi service.
The narrative that Americans dont want to do jobs immigrants do is completely false and fabricated. They simply want better terms and conditions for doing them. And without having to compete with immigrants, it's much easier to get them.

I manage properties in Austin, as well as publish books and sell commodities (as we all well know ;).
I'm actually busier this year than ever before with a number of things, and have less time to post. Definitely no time to go back and forth arguing the same things in a given thread for 10+ pages. You and Alan can push the "allowance from his parents" thing all you want, it won't bother me an iota if you and he and the entire board incorrectly believe it to be true. I'm quite satisfied with the direction my interests are headed. Not gonna argue that stuff for 10+ pages in every thread anymore.
Not in 2019!

You know... I think I'm about to turn a corner... or at least, I am in the process of turning it... I know this may sound defeatist and depressing, but in a way, it's liberating... I have started to adopt a much more fatalistic attitude towards politics in this country and people's viewpoints.
Why? Well, aside from the cliche "it is what it is"... this video sums it up nicely...
The whole video is without a doubt worth a listen, but skip to the spot I linked to... the 8:57 mark... to really understand what I'm trying to say here... I've deeply felt that people treat politics like sports teams for a while and I never truly understood why... and this video really hammered home what I already suspected and brought me some clarity...

You know... I tend to lean towards capitalism and towards the right, there's no doubt about it, I definitely lean that way. However, I don't have a blind allegiance, and yet, any time I voice anything in opposition of anything on the left despite not being an irrational right supporter, I get attacked by multiple people on here that act as if I'm some huge Trump supporter and that there's no way anything I could be saying is valid because it conflicts with their team's "side". It's just... intellectually dishonest tribalism. And it's not just the left that do this. The right does it too. There are a half dozen irrational right posters on this site. I do think the left is far worse, but I digress...
What it really boils down to for me personally is... if I were more emotionally intelligent, I would just always let it go when I factually know that someone is wrong and let them have their nonsense. It's something I've always struggled with but holy shit have I gotten better about it in the past 10 years. I hope I make as much progress in the next 10.
There are just too many voices that are insanely wrong about too many things online... you have to let it go or you're going to drive yourself mad. Even if you change a few minds, is it really worth it? Not on this platform. No way. And a lot of these people, you can't ever fix. There is no fixing stupid. There really isn't. I'm sorry if that's condescending and insulting and dismissive, but that is the brutal truth.
