After Davis put up 32/9/3 blocks in 24 minutes through three quarters. Commentators speculating that Gentry wanted to play only the guys that wanted to be there.

But Pelicans win.

That's going to be a f*cked up situation for the rest of the season.

Fans pay good money to hopefully celebrate a victory.

Rich Paul the other day called league office complaining about Davis' lack of playtime, in a sense to get back at Pelicans management after his tactics had failed, with word circulating that it might be part of their plan to start tanking in order to increase their draft stock.

Silver sent them a memo that basically said "you shall not tank," reminding them of league rule to play stars since 2017 and to please play AD or cough up $100k for each game he sits out while healthy for no apparent reason.

So, their response was play him but limit his minutes, F Rich and that bch.

The drama is infectious, I tell you.

Simple fix: make a team rule that each player's eyebrows must be half an inch apart. Either Davis can't play because he's breaking team regulations, or he shaves his unibrow, losing his entire marketing brand.

Real fans should be appreciative and fuming at front office for letting DMC leave for nothing and also Rondo for that matter.

Real fans should be appreciative and fuming at front office for letting DMC leave for nothing and also Rondo for that matter. Rondo took slightly less money to play with Lebron in L.A. & Cousins turned down 2 / $40 million. Pelicans can't stop a Free man from leaving.

Davis hasnt quit on the Pelicans & acted with class by notifying them he would not sign an extension . Giving the Pelicans an 18 month notice of sorts to get something in return .

Without inside info I'm guessing that Gentry is just following orders regarding playing Davis. If it was his call he most likely plays Davis to extend his job. He's going to get fired sooner or later because that happens to all coaches that don't win championships. He was originally told not to play him but the NBA stepped in so now he's going to play Davis however long it takes to avoid the fine.

Weird situation, teams shouldn't be depriving fans of the stars they paid to see but they also shouldn't have the league office dictating their rotation. As of now this is a solitary incident so hopefully they don't need to redo rules. If this ever does lead to a rule-changing debate I'd side with the team's right to run itself over the league's concern with giving the customer what they paid for.

There are special rules already in place regarding certain max salary players (on of them is the reason why the Cs can't deal for AD until the summer). Wondering what people would think of a mandatory compensation rule for All-Stars and All-NBA players that request trades. Make it known that if a guy requests a trade the trading partner has to give up at least one current All-Star/All-NBA or their next top 3 draft pick. Probably not a good idea but I'm just spitballing
