No wonder this dude is so damn successful, turtle Pecker should have stayed in his lane. Nothing more embarrassing than the mark you are trying blackmail to go public and call you out :oldlol:

I'm very interested as to how Bezos's texts and photos were obtained. While possible, I'm having a hard time believing that his phone was hacked. Pecker and AMI seem extremely nervous and aggitated by his investigation into the matter and their blackmail gambit designed to make him recant his suspicions regarding their political connections has backfired spectacularly. The SDNY is going to leverage this to get more out of them.

He's got some hotshot infosec investigator on the job:
Bezos opened an investigation into how the messages could have ended up in the hands of the tabloid, led by longtime security consultant Gavin de Becker. De Becker told media that the leak was politically motivated.
What I love about this is that finally there is a public figure worth billions of dollars who is ready to put himself out there in order to make a stand and defend himself instead of immediately running to his lawyers and PR team trying to save face and such.
This man has too much money, brains, influence and most importantly character to be blackmailed over some nude photos; I hope he trumps the **** out of these sleazy cowards.

Didn’t Bezos previously claim that his mistress’ brother gave this stuff to the national enquirer?
Apparently he no longer believes that was the case. Weird that they tried to get him to shut up by threatening to release nude pictures of him if he didn't. Doesn't quite strike me as a normal journalistic practice. If everything is on the up and up, why so aggitated and jumpy. :confusedshrug:

Yup, that's the word being bandied about, and what they'll likely find themselves facing with the SDNY.
It's hubris. If you're going after a billionaire - and anyone, really - don't write an e-mail with your demands. But hey, not everyone agrees. I heard someone on Fox News describe it as horse-trading. :oldlol:

Apparently there is e-mail correspondence to which he referred in his letter. AMI responded, acknowledging the e-mail correspondence, but framed it as a negotiation.
Incidentally, here are the e-mails.

In addition to the "below the belt selfie — otherwise colloquially known as a 'd*ck pick'" — The Enquirer obtained a further nine images. These include:

Look at what Bezos is not doing though. This is the richest man in the world we’re talking about here. And he hasn’t filed any kind of lawsuit against AMI. Isn’t that weird?
It’s not like the dude can’t afford lawyers. If this was true, I find it unimaginable that he would choose not to sue and instead simply make a couple statements to the media.

Here are our proposed terms:
2. A public, mutually-agreed upon acknowledgment from the Bezos Parties, released through a mutually-agreeable news outlet, affirming that they have no knowledge or basis for suggesting that AM's coverage was politically motivated or influenced by political forces, and an agreement that they will cease referring to such a possibility.
3. AM agrees not to publish, distribute, share, or describe unpublished texts and photos (the "Unpublished Materials").
5. The agreement is completely confidential.
6. In the case of a breach of the agreement by one or more of the Bezos Parties, AM is released from its obligations under the agreement, and may publish the Unpublished Materials.

Would you say that Stormy Daniels blackmailed Donald Trump?
Stormy Daniels sought to sell her story to the highest bidder. In 2011, she spoke to a reporter about her affair with Trump, but the story was not published. She shopped the story again in 2016. When the good folks at AMI got wind of this, they contacted Trump's people about the fact that she was shopping the story around. She was subsequently approached by Michael Cohen with a $130,000 offer for her silence.
Had Daniels approached Trump or his people with a demand for payment in return for her silence, yes, that would be extortion/blackmail. However, she never contacted Trump or his people. Rather, she tried to sell her story about their affair to news and gossip publications and it was Trump's people who approached her with a deal for her silence.
Do you understand the difference?
Are you saying that, based on the e-mail he received from the folks at the National Enquirer, Bezos cannot make a credible accusation of attempted blackmail?

Blackmail for what? What were they trying to extract from him? The claim I heard was that AMI wanted WaPo to stop investigating AMI. Unless I missed it, I didn’t see any request to drop a WaPo investigation in those emails.

Yeah...despite zero evidence to prove it the wealthiest person on the planet is probably the president of a country with a GDP smaller than Canada.
Anyway, there is no debate that Bezos is the wealthiest person that actively makes his wealth known... now do you have any comment on the fact that Bezos thinks his privacy is important while yours is irrelevant?

Six is often contrarian for the sake of being contrarian. He likely fully agrees that this was a blackmail attempt, but he's content to play obtuse for a bit. When push comes to shove, he'll either abandon the thread or attempt to key in on some obscure point in an attempt to change the subject. He's already tried it with the Stormy Daniels query earlier. It didn't fly, and his options are a little more limited now. Let's see what he does.

You basically have to go 100% completely off of the grid and live in the wilderness while never interacting with civilization to not have your data/privacy compromised, in today's age.
There are measures you can take to minimize your exposure, but ultimately, the exposure is always there.
privacytools.io will help guide you, but as I said, ultimately, there are always leaks... and they're all over the place.

While we can and should all look askance at Bezos, someone accessed information on his phone, outed a private affair and is practically blackmailing him with a threat to release additional private and lurid photos that were stolen from him. Moreover, the gossip outlet that is perpetrating the blackmail had close ties to the President of the United States and is currenly under an immunity deal with the government as it provides information on its efforts to unlawfully aid the President in the last election. They may have very well breached the terms of that immunity deal with their latest stunt.
Bezos isn't the most sympathetic figure and I have a lot off issues with some of Amazon's practices, but I can side with him on this one matter.

You would think that releasing someone’s nude photos would be illegal. However they were obtained.
As for how they were obtained, I don’t buy this idea that the government hacked Bezos and leaked the info to the National Enquirer. I legitimately think it would be more plausible to claim it was the Russians.
If you’re the richest man in the world, you gotta know that when you send dick pics, they’re eventually going to be sold to either TMZ, National Enquirer, Daily Mail or whoever. The most obvious suspect is the broad he sent the pics to. Not saying she did it, but that’s much more likely than the government hacking Bezos’ dick pics and leaking them to a tabloid.
The intel community aren’t exactly a bunch of Trump loyalists. I don’t see them doing something like that just for the sake of sticking it to some guy that Trump angry tweets about.
