Why couldnt Kobe win with Shaq in 03 and 04?

Doesnt matter what happened in 00, 01, 02... the fact is Kobe COULD NOT WIN WITH SHAQ in 03 and 04.

That’s a far worse failure than Lebron not winning with him in ‘10

kobe actually had a historic comeback vs the spurs in 03 and it would have been an all time great performance if horry didn't miss the game winner and ultimately miss every single 3 point attempt in that series


04 kobe was dealing with shoulder/knee recovery all year and had limited mobility. wasn't the same player... larry brown decided to double/triple him and let shaq get his. the rest is history



in the end it turned out to be a blessing because the failures/challenge thrown down by shaq is what separated the 2 and enabled kobe to win multiple titles on his own which validated him and ultimately catapulted him ahead of shaq

Only a fool would think that WCF in 2002 wasn't rigged. Go watch the Lakers shoot 27 free throws in the 4th quarter alone again in game 6. Go watch all the fouls called against Vlade and Pollard again. Some of them 3+ feet away from Shaq in the paint = Foul #6 on Pollard. Hell Vlade was LAUGHING on the bench it was so ridiculous. I watched it live as almost a 30 year old adult. What'd you catch, grainy Youtube clips with commentary?
Go listen again to Bill Walton's comments as the color guy.
Go again read the story of the NBA ref Tim D. basically admitting team A was told to rig calls for team B.
Horry's miracle shot in game 4 guaranteed a longer series - but the KINGS won it in 6. Nothing you can say will change my mind - again, watched it live.

This. It was tantamount to sabotage given the circumstances.

Im not prepared to say definitively it should keep Wade out of HoF consideration, but it’s something voters will have to think very seriously about. He put himself before the team on the biggest stage possible, and it was a tremendous embarassment to the league.

There should be some kind of consequence.

2003-4 Shaq wasn't nearly as dominant as 2000-2002 Shaq. He coasted through the early part of his career relying on his physical gifts. In 1999 the Spurs surprised everyone by winning the title, and some people started calling Duncan the best big in the game. That pissed Shaq off, he finally worked hard during the off-season, started 2000 motivated and in good shape, and destroyed the league. Same thing in 2001 and 2002. By 2003 he figured he had made his point, he had 3 rings, and he was back to being fat and happy Shaq. That's why Kobe ran him out of town. He knew that Shaq would never again be motivated to be as dominant as he was during the Lakers title run.
