Even Lavar Ball more woke than you fools. The NBA is an entertainment business and Lebron was meant to the next Jordan and ESPN to this day is still trying their goddamn hardest in conjunction with the league and whatever controls the strings behind the curtains to make this true.

There are only a few competitive teams in the league because that is how they want it to be. Most franchises are either cash cows or some extreme form of money laundering/tax evasion and the people financially invested don't give a flying **** about how their team does so long as the dollars keep coming in.

Now this is all related to the whole blackball thing or discrimination of euros/whites in the scouting process. Bum teams and black athletes from poor socio-economic areas are a match made in heaven. They get their paycheck and they are happy to keep up the charade and keep taking the L's. The last thing teams like this want are actually, and I hate to say it, strong and high character people. These teams are meant to be cannon fodder and they know their place.

I don't think it's as conspiratorial as you're suggesting, but in many ways this is how it ultimately plays out.

Doesn't matter how little parity the league has, Laker fans, Warrior fans, Knick fans etc. will still tune in by the hundreds of thousands every night to watch their team beat up on the Generals (or lose to them in the Knicks' case). They'll watch on TV or show up and buy parking, nachos, t-shirts etc.

Doesn't matter what the product on the court looks like. The popular teams have enough of a following that people will show up and spend money to see them no matter who they're playing, what the rules are, whatever. The league doesn't really give a shit about much beyond that.

That said, there's plenty of money to be made if a team starts winning. I highly doubt they're passing on certain players for the purpose of staying bad. They'd rather win, it's just they don't mind losing as long as their team has revenue or resale value.
