Why would he :oldlol: Other ATG players that weren't good defenders like Magic, Dirk & Barkley didn't make it either. What I do wonder is if Durant will ever make one

You know Magic's steals in 1980-81 and 1981-82 were pretty cuckoo, and this is back when he was blocking shots a little, too. You don't think he'd at least make second team in 1980-81 had he not gotten injured?

What's the agenda here? Of course Curry hasn't made any all defensive teams.

I guess I'm just pointing out that he is arguably the worst example of a two-way player among any of the players often touted as ATG.

He's probably underrated defensively, though. It's not like he's Steve Nash out there. He's actually fairly competent on the defensive end.

It's fine. He makes up for it on the offensive end and he's on a team that is good enough defensively where they can make up for Curry's mediocre d. Not everyone needs to be a stud on defence to be great. Magic wasn't amazing on defence. LeBron hasn't been for a while either.

No, he's not Nash. And saying he's a worse defender than Magic would really be stretching the truth. And certainly a better defender than Dirk or Barkley...

Magic wasn't bad at all. Why do people think this?

lol no. For all shit Chuck talks about himself, advanced stats show him to be a good defensive player for most of his career. Dirk also was decent before he got old. Stephen Curry is not even close to being as effective as they were. It's just a size and position thing.

His help defense is actually pretty decent but on ball he's pretty bad. Too small to effectively guard most guys 1 on 1.

The way the rules are now there are maybe a handful of good one on one defensive players out there as you can't even play real one on one defensive anymore. Help/team defense was always more important, but now it really is as that's the only kind of effective defense these days.

You sure it's not a jumping thing?
I'm not sure Chuck ever got more than one vote for an All-Defensive team. I certainly think his defense was more impactful than one vote would suggest, but he's not the defender Curry is.

And that matters how? You only have to look to Kobe who was mostly a mediocre defensive player throughout his career in the regular season yet has 9 all defensive first team nods to know how little that shit means.

That ain't true. Kobe tried defensively, but he hacked, too.

Smoke, where's your all-time defender list? What's the thread title if I want to bump it?

By position?
PG - Jason Kidd
SG - Michael Jordan
SF - Scottie Pippen
PF - Kevin Garnett
C - Hakeem Olajuwon
Reserves: David Robinson, Ben Wallace, Tim Duncan, Kawhi Leonard, Chris Paul (his defensive impact was amazing considering he's barely 6 feet)

No. I thought you made a thread a while back of like top 100 defenders all-time.
