I learned it when i was young, but im not good. There are phases where im interested in chess, so that im watching and playing chess a little bite more often, but then there are phases where im not playing or watching chess for over a year or two.

My Dad taught me to play when I was 10 or 11. I won a couple of trophies in high school, had a USCF rating of ~1650 (for those who know what that means). These days I play blitz chess now and then, but not any regular games, computers have pretty much ruined that.

Learned when I was in my teens. But really got into it more as a young adult. I'd go to my friend's house on a Sunday morning. We'd get baked, drink coffee and play chess. It was really rewarding once I started winning occasionally.

It feels great when you are locked in and focused on a game....always thinking 3 or four moves ahead on offense and defense. Truly satisfying when you win. Great game.

I thought everyone knew that by like third grade...



Mastering chess is another story. It takes a ton of studying and playing (unless you're a prodigy) to reach a high level. I get my ass kicked online constantly. It is a humbling game.

Bigger chess fan than I am basketball fan. Been playing since middle school.

On chess.com im in the low 1700s in rapids and 1500s in blitz. I do have an account in the 1850s on rapids but i stopped playing it because i got the rating on adderall and know i would lose it all if I tried playing normally.
