We're still in the Lebron era.
The players, refs, owners and the commisioner are all under his control.

Why the NBA ever considered putting the face of someone who can't decide if his dad is Da Real Lambo or Delonte West is beyond dumb.
Torch went right from Kobe to Curry.

Speaking of Dads, considering MJ stills owes 6 grand from a gambling debt from 35yrs ago, safe to say we definitely know what happened to his dad.

3-4 years ago it was looking like this was going to be the Steph era. The NBA was promoting the hell out of him and it was working. People were talking about those slow motion pull up three commercials. People were hoping we were on the verge of seeing the next inspiring all time great, which we haven't seen in the NBA since the early half of the 00s while Shaq was still in his peak or very slightly post peak. Since then, we've had some good players doing good things like Duncan, Kobe, Dirk, KG, Pierce LeBron, Durant, etc., but no one has become the kind of star/legend we've seen in the not-to-distant past. Steph was on the verge. Then he got exposed in multiple finals as not really being all that good and they had to go get a better #1 player in Durant. We don't see they same push from the NBA. We don't see (many) people thinking Steph might be the best player in the league like we were seeing/hearing/hoping a few years ago.
That just covers Steph himself. But he's actually caused some problems on top of what he is personally responsible for. He has ushered in an ugly era of basketball ultra focused on shooting threes at massive volumes. Long gone are the days of Reggie Miller and Ray Allen. Now we are in the era of Steph and Harden and Trae Young with power forwards and centers shooting more 3s than many shooting guards use to shoot.
It isn't fully Steph's era though as another poster pointed out. We are still living under the dark cloud of an extended LeBron era, which is an era of the free agent super team. That is LeBron's legacy and it is a bad one. Durant followed him. It looks like quite a few others might be following him this off-season or next.
It is an especially bad era in the NBA. The stars are mostly soft. Guys like Giannis and LeBron and others can get to the hole at will because of the terrible way rules are interpreted and enforced. Guys like Harden and Steph get fouls called against them when someone breathes too hard near them. Everyone is allowed to travel and carry the ball at levels we've never seen before.

One of the great hidden truths of this era is that Curry is even greater than his supporters believe. He is so great the league and media have gone to great lengths to downplay his greatness! Absolutely incredible. Other stars have had their reputations made by media and the league fawning all over them while Curry has to put up with the league and media talking down and ignoring his achievements.

The best actors are the ones you don't notice are acting and seamlessly fit into their role. Curry is the basketball equivalent. He is next level.

Eye test, analytics, teams changing their entire philosophies...Steph Curry has been the best and most influential player of the decade. If you say otherwise you are low iq or just straight trolling.

Yeah, we call them role players.
Steph is a one dimensional role player who chokes in big moments. Give me a thousand guys taking an open 3 when it matters over steph. Hes only the best shooter in regular season games when the defensive intensity is half that of a playoff game. Hes a rec league warrior who spams 3s when hes comfortable.

What facts have you stated other than stupid nonsense like he fits into a role? You could literally say that any other role player. So that's why hes the best? Because he fits in?
Wow great argument. :facepalm
It doesnt matter that hes never been even the 2nd best player in a finals series... he fits in guys!

The only thing we know for sure is that MJ knew his dad while LeBron refuses to know his. MJ can't have a relationship with his father because he passed, while LeBron is to stupid to realize that his dad is still alive.

Yeah, the ones who LeBron lost his FMVP to like Iguodala. We know that LeBron gets shut down by role players because super star level talent isn't required to shut him down.

He received votes on the losing team because he put up 36/13/9 and had no other allstars. Matthew dellavedova who is a career backup now was his 2nd option.
Thanks for shining light on why that 2015 ring for the warriors means absolutely nothing and steph is a chronic loser on the big stage. Lost fmvp to a 12ppg role player because the eye test doesnt lie. Steph was nowhere to be found when the games were close but stat padded when his team was up double digits. Hes a fraud and anyone who doesn't see it by now is literally retarded.

Yeah, it’s super sad because it shows he actually....knows nothing about the game; and it oozes out of every one of his posts. He tries to troll but he doesn’t even know how. He has over 100k posts and still doesn’t know how to do it right. God help him.

That's why he's averaging 4.7 FTA per game. Too much help from the refs.

On one hand, steph quite possibly was the biggest factor in the ushering in of the modern 3 ball era, and his influence on the game can't be denied. On the other, it's true that steph seemed to not have anywhere near the impact on the biggest stages of the game that true superstars are supposed to have. If he had, his superstardom right now would probably be over the top, instead of being overshadowed by guys like giannis.
But there is probably some truth to the statements by his fans that teams always game plan around his three point shooting, and this is probably more so in the finals. Their main goal is to lock up steph (kinda hard to do though with Durant on the same team), making things easier for his teammates, and that could also be counted as having a big impact.

For perspective can you name the 20+ points per game scorers in history who have averaged a lower number of free throw attempts than Stephen Curry?

Thread title is disrespectful towards Durant who was twice the best player on arguably the GOAT team in the 17 and 18 Warriors
But yeah, I like it for the most part. Curry/Durant era will be looked at favorably, maybe not immediately but in a decade or 2 this decade will be looked at as the great decade that it's been
