View Full Version : Imagine young Lebron with PEAK SHAQ

Or replacing current Ben Simmons or Jason Tatum with young Lebron on these STACKED Sixers/Celtics squads?

Dude would have multiple rings easy by year 4.

But that's why rings aren't important for gauging the level of play for an INDIVIDUAL player.

Rings are really only important for coaches. Lot of scrub nobodies in the NBA have rings

Hell, NOBODY cares about the Warriors collecting rings like Sonic the Hedgehog. They just aren't THAT important for individual players.

neither lebron nor Shaq can hit the big shots in the championship and need someone else to do it.. so it would often be cringeworthy watching those 2 bricklayers in the clutch

And can lebron play in a system?

Because that's the only way Shaq/Kobe 3-peated

Shaq got destroyed from 94-99' with ultra-elite help until a system helped him dominate WHILE lesser players got theirs

Lebron doesn't play in systems and rejected coaching from every coach he's ever had.. so lebron/shaq would underwhelm like all of bron's teams.. and Shaq's teams until he got a system and mini-mj...

Who makes the jump shots, free throws, plays lock down man defense and clutch buckets then?

He would hog the ball and dribble until there’s no clock left trying to waive Shaq out of the paint out to the 3 point line to act as a decoy sniper :facepalm

You can’t just insert random pieces around LeBron no matter how great they are. Lebron teams can only succeed with snipers that stay away from the paint LeBron and Shaq would be an unsuccessful duo to say the least. LeBron would be crying for moar halp before the first trade deadline in this hypothetical situation and Shaq would prob strangle LeBron for not feeding him in the post and staying out of HIS way like any player with half a brain cell actually should be doing

Come on. This is bball 101. Best teams aren't just the collection of the best individual talents. It's a combo of talent and how the pieces compliment each other.

There is a reason why Bron never wanted a true, back to the basket C. And that's because he wants the lane to be clear for him to drive and kick. That's his whole game. Dominate the ball and have 4 guys standing around and he drives and kicks. He would just reduce Shaq to a much inferior player, just like he did to Love and Bosh.

I LOVE how people only read the title and not the rest of my OP.

Any thoughts on 19-22 year old Lebron playing in the 2000's with a team like the current Celtics/Sixers (minus Simmons/Tatum)? Ringsss for dayssss

Young stars have it easy today because all of them were drafted with GREAT front offices (minus Devon Booker).

Yup.

This is the main reason why LeBron doesn't have a case for being the GOAT IMO. What made MJ great is the fact that he could play his game without making everyone adjust to him.

LeBron has never done that and it is one reason why his teams have never been as good as they should be. He has played with more high level talent then Duncan or Kobe and yet Kobe and Timmy have been far more successful.

It has been annoying watching get a pass on this stuff for years by members in the media because he puts up nice stats.

Yup. But just the fact that Bron won a few rings with a suboptimal style of play is a testament to his greatness. He was amazing for sure. But he truly did play an inferior brand of ball. And that's why none of his teams are in the discussion for GOAT teams. And also why he lost more than won when he faced similarly talented teams in the finals that just played better team ball.

As for the media? Let's get real. Almost none of these guys have any in-depth knowledge of the game. All they see is PPG, RPG, and APG without seeing HOW those stats were accumulated. Were they within the flow? Or was it at the expense of it?

Yup.

The only team that might be considered an all-time great team is the 2013 Heat. Neither the 2012 Heat or the 2016 Cavaliers were all-time great teams.

This is a black mark on his career. A player of his caliber should have lead more all-time great teams.

The only first team all-nba player LeBron faced from 2010-2018 was Derrick Rose in 2011.:oldlol:

I have said it before, but LeBron's "legacy" is going to get picked apart in 15-20 years when people really look closely at the opponents he faced during that time period.

Imagine how many rings LeBron would win if he had 2+ hall of famers on his teams? He'd win not 5 not 6 not 7, right?

Had the biggest meltdown in finals history in 2011 despite 2 hall of famers in their prime and top management in Riley and Spoelstra.

Y'all LeStans are a special level of delusional, Shaq/LeBron would probably win a ring in 2001 since that team went 15-1 and I don't see how they don't go at least 15-6 or 15-7 with LeBron, but 2000 and 2002?

They beat the Kings in 5 (out of 5) in 2000 and the Trailblazers in 7, Kobe was playing well for both series and did excellent closing both series out. Can't see LeBron succeed

Can't see them win 2002 vs Kings

They definitely aren't winning any other year, the above is being generous because LeBron and prime Shaq aren't a good fit. If people thought the locker room drama with Shaq and Kobe was bad, well history has shown that LeBron would not be any better... he'd be far worse if anything

Just telling it like it is :pimp:

This is 1000% accurate.

It's sad that Lebron stans are hanging on to hypotheticals for DEAR LIFE.

How about he just wins with the players that are currently in the NBA instead of you fantasizing about 2000 Shaq. Lol

It's crazy that the stans believe that Lebron can actually coincide with a dominant low-post presence.

It doesn't work the same because Lebron isn't a perimeter player and never has been.

He's shooting the basketball better than he ever has in his life and people still treat him like he's Ben Simmons.

He would clog the pain with Shaq.
