View Full Version : How can MJ be GOAT and Hakeem top 10?

These are the only two supposedly top-15 players from the 90's, yet they never had to play each other in the finals.

If they played against each other, either Hakeem doesnt finish with multiple chips (probably knocks him out of the top 15), or MJ doesn't go undefeated in the finals (his biggest/only trump over Lebron).

Imagine Lebron not playing Duncan/Durant throughout most of his 9 finals appearances. Imagine him playing the likes of Clyde Drexler and Shawn Kemp over and over. That's basically what MJ did.

MJ can't be GOAT if Hakeem is top 10. He basically retired in the middle of his career so he wouldnt have to play against him :biggums:

MJ is a known hakeem-ducker.

He didn't want that Nigerian fade.

So MJ left in 93 and came back in 95...when Hakeem was defending champ and recognized as the best player....because he was trying to duck him? Flawless logic.

no shame in ducking the 'keem.

on the brightside it gave MJ some time to go and get wrecked playing little league baseball, and we got another 3 good years out of OG baldan.

great post like always bigkingsfan. MJ ducked 'keem by practically giving the win to the magic, colluding with stern in the process.

How could Lebron be top 10 when he lost to Dwight Howard a career loser having had never won anything yet. He had to join forces with a proven champion on 3 ocassions in Ben Wallace, Shaq and then Dwyane Wade. Now he is playing for the winniest organization in history and can't get the top seed with them.:oldlol:

This is a stupid take. LeBron's best competition for the first half of his career was kobe. Does the fact that they never hooked up matter? Also I love Bron but you act like playing the likes of drexler and Kemp and Payton would be easy when Bron lost to players like Dirk and Howard.

Mike never had a winning record versus Hakeem what a joke of a player, he should be lucky to get a top 10 spot after losing records to hakeem, bird, and isiah thomas

MJ's perfect Finals record is a less meaningful advantage over his peers than simply winning 3 more rings as "the man" than anyone in modern history, including Lebron.

We know that winning a ring as "the man" is the holy grail of basketball accomplishment... i.e. Kobe needed to win without Shaq to cement his career; Wade's 06' ring is the crown jewel of his career; ditto 11' Dirk... etc, etc, etc

So again - winning as "the man" is the holy grail of basketball accomplishment, and MJ has the most in the modern era with 6 rings and FMVP's - 2nd place has only 3..

So his 6 rings in the modern era as "the man" is his biggest goat argument... His 2nd biggest argument is winning 2 three-peats with just 1 all-star, while Lebron and Curry failed with 3 HOF teammates each in 2014/2019.. And Shaq/Kobe only got 1 three-peat.

His 3rd biggest argument is #1 all-time PPG and efficiency rating ..

Then his 10 scoring titles and 2-way accolades (9 seasons of both 1st team all-nba and 1st team defense)... Only player to average 30/5/5 for his career in RS, PO, or Finals.... And so many more things - too many to list
.

Lebron never had a winning record against Jason Terry & Dwight Howard when it matters either, and these guys were all borderline NBA "players of the week" compared to the likes of Zeke & Larry Legend
