He is. 54% TS in the PO's and 51% in the Finals for his career.

Exactly.
MJ shot 54% TS in the postseason from 1996-98. Nobody called him "inefficient", because he wasn't.

It's medicore at best efficiency and LeBron gets blasted for his 49% TS in the '15 Finals and Kobe averaged 51% for his career.

being inefficient wasn't even a common basketball observation during that time.

Its above league average. Mediocre? Nope.
I don't blame LeBron for gunning in that series. Not like he had a lot of scorers to pass to anyway.
being inefficient wasn't even a common basketball observation during that time.
TS% wasn't really a thing then.
It was FG%.
I still use it but there's no doubt TS% does a better job combining freethrows and threes.

Shooting efficiency is cool, and you're right about that
But points-produced per possession (ortg) is actually the best measure of efficiency and drives all the advanced stats like BPM and PER
For example, I was looking up Embiid and wondering why his bpm, vorp, and ws was underwhelming for someone with his raw production - turns out that his ortg is shit for bigs.. ditto someone like sprewell... And to a lesser extent, Kobe
MJ's ortg was 119 from 96-98' (118 in PO), compared to 110 for Kobe's career (110 in PO).. So ortg is the difference, due specifically to MJ's lower TO's and superior volume at equal shooting efficiency (41.4 pts per 100 possessions versus 35.8 for Kob.. 42.5 to 34.7 in PO)
.

Well, Kobe isn't a league average player, so for a player of his standard, it's mediocre.

Not saying you blame him, but used it as an example. BTW, Kobe had a TS% of under 50% in the 4 Finals he played with Shaq.

You have to consider volume along with shooting efficiency
So PPG and TS.... Or usage and ORtg.... Stuff like that.. Kobe is only behind MJ, Lebron, and Durant
When a player can score with high efficiency per possession, the best action is to have them attempt to score over anything else - obviously, this requires a player's ortg exceed the best offenses (so 114-115 or greater):
Per 100 Possessions in Playoffs:
JORDAN:.. 43.3 pts.. 118 ORtg.. 35.6 usg
LEBRON:.. 37.2 pts.. 116 ORtg.. 32.2 usg
DURANT:. 36.3 pts.. 115 ORtg.. 30.5 usg
KOBE:...... 34.7 pts.. 110 ORtg.. 31.0 usg
WADE:..... 32.2 pts.. 108 ORtg.. 30.1 usg
HARDEN:. 32.0 pts.. 113 ORtg.. 28.1 usg
(Harden 17' and 18' PO: 38.9 pts, 110 ortg, 36.2 usg)
So mj's produced the most (43.3 pts) at higher efficiency than everyone (118 ortg).. so he provided more (points) of a good thing (ortg)
Btw, considering the #2 thru #6 guys are between 32 and 36 points, you'd think the #1 guy would be at 37 or 38... But MJ is at 43.3 points, far above the pack and in another tier

I said it was above league average. Not league average.
For Kobe standards its basically his career efficiency.
In other words? Not mediocre.

So Kobe's efficiency isn't average
It's only behind a few guys all-time among players in his role (high-volume perimeter#1 options)

Ortg is efficiency per possession
And I posted that
But ur the kind of audience that Skip, Max, Broussard, and GOATlock are catering to by dumbing down their analysis into simpler terms you can understand..
stuff like ortg and time of possession is obviously above your education level and the masses, so they don't get into it on their shows

Look under "miscellaneous" w/ first link.
From 2001-2013, or in his "prime", Kobe shot @ league average or below three times. 2002/2004/2011.
That's it.

Except for the FACT that ORtg takes into account TEAM stats as well, dumbass. It doesn't measure an individual players efficiency.
I really did not expect you to know that though, considering the fact that 1st grade level math is like quantum mechanics to you.
