Kareem is so overrated in my opinion. How did this dude miss the playoffs in the middle of his prime in the weak ass 70s? :biggums:

Hasn't happened in probably ever, the best player should be good enough to elevate a team to the playoffs unless the team is truly, truly awful. Every superstar in today's NBA is on a good enough team to make the playoffs, that or they're good enough to hide the flaws their team has, no excuse for any of them to miss the playoffs.

He missed the playoffs with the Bucks right after the Big O left and then goes to the Lakers where they.... missed the playoffs.

The Bucks made the playoffs the year after Kareem left, granted with the same record, and the Lakers did have a 10 game turnaround but he really does get overrated in terms of peak/prime play

His longevity was GOAT tier  but so many guys had better peaks and did more in far tougher eras, 70s was trash especially before the merger.

Wilt's Warriors team didn't make the playoffs in 62/63 season, while averaging 44.8 on 52.8% with 24.3/3.4 for rebounds assists.

Was Bill Russell really the better player with 15.1/22.5/4.3 on 44% and worse FT shooting?

Maybe Bill had better intangibles and defense that season and was a better locker room presence. Or maybe Wilt's team was just lousy outside of him.

This kind of stuff is so crazy to me. LeBron made the playoffs for 13 straight years from ages 20 to 33 and no one cares, meanwhile we have guys missing the playoffs in their prime like: Kobe, Wilt, Kareem.

From Wiki, I legit lol'd at this

In the 1962–63 NBA season, Gottlieb sold the Warriors franchise for $850,000 (equal to about $7.04 million today) to a group of businessmen led by Marty Simmons from San Francisco, and the team relocated to become the San Francisco Warriors under a new coach, Bob Feerick. This also meant, however, that the team broke apart, as Paul Arizin chose to retire rather than move away from his family and his job at IBM in Philadelphia, and Tom Gola was homesick, requesting a trade to the lowly New York Knicks halfway through the season
