Can Lebron's Legacy recover after this stint in the West?
Lets consider:
He just recently promised a playoff effort yet he has failed miserably to deliver results.
He poisoned the locker room and lost the team by backstabbing them with trade talks.
He lost the coach by putting wanted posters in the media.
He is going to miss the playoffs in the West in a weak era where no defence is played (which should help him as he ages but it hasn't.)
He plays no god damn defense and is getting paid $35 mill per to perform.
Serious question.

You mean when LA was the 4th seed prior to him going down and was out of the playoffs when he came back 18 games later? Yep, hard to recover from that.

What's the record since he activated playoff mode??:lol
Why are all these retards clinging to the 4th seed argument?? They fluked 6 or 7 wins and got crushed by every real team they faced..

No when he cruised against one of the easiest schedules in the NBA.

It's a LeBron still recovering from groin injury and a team that badly misses their starting PG (Lonzo). Rondo is a train wreck.

They had a .500 record against winning teams when LeBron went down on Christmas Day :confusedshrug:

I think you can still make the argument that he's top 15, it's a weak one since the bulk of pro-LeBron takes involve his obvious statpadding and disregards his poor leadership and mental fragility, but the argument is of course there for his stans to use
But for those of us that can properly evaluate what we're seeing it's very hard to place him in the top 15, with guys like KD and Curry now (and hell, Dirk and Wade while we're at it) and Giannis and Zion in the future (and who knows who else, Doncic?) he may not even be a lock for the top 20 in a decade

And we had one of the easiest schedules to start... LBJ fans are something else man. They'll find everything to blame but LBJ. He is too perfect in their eyes.

If he wins a title he'll be fine. If he makes it to the Finals he'll be fine. Otherwise, it'll put a dent on his resume for sure.

The legacy was a fraud. He feasted on a bubble bath East for a decade where playoff berths, shit, Finals appearances are a guarantee if you're above average.
This candy ass couldn't even survive a single year in a Western conference that doesn't even pretend to play defense now.

I'm one of those who'd bring up the 4th seed stuff too.
During that stretch though, not only was LeBron out, but Kuzma/Rondo/Ball never played healthy together. At least one of the three was DNP.
Now that LeBron is back, LA has one of the worst defenses in the league. They're also losing close games they should win. I mean, if LeBron hit those freethrows last night its a one possession game. He clanks both of them. Like he has all season in crunchtime. You cant defend any of that.

Hell no - this proves exactly what his critics have been saying about his prior accomplishments - they were conference-dependant, and his critics will sing about this until he's old and grey
This was already intuitive - if a player only beat the West 3 times in the Finals (getting blown away otherwise), he'd obviously have 3 or less Finals if he'd been out West for his career
And those Finals required team-hopping for an extra perennial all-star/sure-fire HOF teammate.. obviously, Dirk, Malone and the like would have a bunch of Finals appearances and more rings if they had an extra star teammate for most of their careers.. it's all intuitive and obvious if you remove the ESPN bias/goggles

The Lakers now have plus-600 odds (a $100 wager would win $600) to make the postseason at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, by far their worst odds all season. They are a staggering minus-900 favorite to miss the postseason.
Los Angeles was plus-240 to make the playoffs before Saturday's game and had minus-110 odds at the All-Star break.
The SuperBook opened odds on the Lakers making the playoffs before the season with the yes heavily favored at minus-450 (no at plus-350). Although 59 percent of bettors thought James' Lakers would miss the playoffs, more than 83 percent of the money was on yes. This was heavily influenced by one bettor who wagered $50,000 on yes at minus-500 odds, for a potential profit of $10,000.
The Lakers are 30-33 and 4

Not a good look for his legacy. Those chanting the "played in weaker conference" are starting to look right.

Lol it's not gonna be a big dent because its widely known hes on the back 9. The argument of the west wont work because even lebron of 2016 would have this team above 500. Outside circumstances messed the chemistry up. Hes def to blame for that.
But if you're praying he will be forgotten....I have to ask who hurt you to hate a man who knows nothing about you.

Kobe's legacy recovered from 2005, 2015 and 2016. It'll be fine.

His legacy has never recovered since 2011. In fact, it's gotten worse... dude racked up 6 finals losses.
