Kobe kept his promise, why can't Bran with better support keep his?

Kobe in 2013 made a promise to make the playoffs. The team throughout the season was injured much more overall than this current Laker's team, even the coach (Mike D') was injured at some point during the season. Kobe had a stack of retiree vets sucking away the GOAT juice he had left in his tank playing an insane amount of minutes. He ultimately busted his achilles heel getting the team to the post-season but he did keep his promise.

Lebron has promised the same, activating playoff mode. Bran has a healthier cast of players around him, younger, and with fresher legs. He's also playing in a watered down era of loose defense which should help his production. He, unlike Kobe, is not delivering.

Why the difference?
