He was in the league 17 years and it happened on a freak play, not because he played too many minutes.

I think he may have suffered the injury because of how many miles were on his body while still playing so many minutes at an advanced stage of his career.

I think that playing major minutes did contribute to Kobe's injury, I mean 37 minutes per game is fine, but he was averaging 45.5 minutes the last 7 games, going full force, and I believe being the main defender of the opposing team's point guard.

That was an insane toll.

Compare that to the effort Lebron is putting forth this season at the same age.
