View Full Version : Imagine putting up 36/8/7 on 53% fg and 44% 3pt as an elite defender

mj did this in the finals during his prime. He was basically Steph from three, Kd from mid-range, Greek at the rim, passed and rebounded like lebron and defended like kawhi. Oh and won 3 straight finals in the process. What a time to be alive:bowdown:

I was just thinking how Harden's current stats against regular season teams (36/7/8) is worse than MJ's stats against Finals teams (36/7/8 and only 2.7 tov compared to Harden's 5.3)

Harden is a turnover machine, while MJ got his stats in a way that didn't risk a bunch of turnovers (non-ball-dominant) and facilitated ball movement (assisted rate was higher)

Like you said, a better Harden and Kawhi on D.. or a better passing and scoring version of Kawhi (10 more ppg version of Kawhi)

I look at what Harden is doing and it's obvious that MJ would average 50 a game in today's league. His 3 point shooting would be similar to that of Joe Harris. Sure he would average a technical a game for all his shit talking in this soft ass league, but at least we'd see someone really exploit these cupcake rules more so than anyone currently in the game today.

Even a sweep against the Knicks looks way harder than the spaced-out easy stuff he'd get in today's league

That's a much better scoring, passing and defending Kawhi

Regardless, lebron did it with 2 seeds and all-star teammates while MJ did it with 8 seeds and nothing

I was watching Harden against Boston yesterday, a team that's supposed to have some defensive grit. It was truly remarkable to see the easy driving lanes and uncontested layups he got. He would get past his initial defender, to his credit, and then waltz toward the rim with almost no resistance. Celtics defenders would always stand there frozen or half-heartedly try to defend, always arriving a step too late to actually contest the shot.

This happens game after game in the NBA. It's like all big men are taught now a days is to stay with their man on the perimeter, because God forbid they get a look at an open three. They'd rather give up a lay up with a 90% chance of success than leave their man who might get a pass from the driver and might convert a three pointer at 35% at best. Utterly stupid and lazy defensive strategy. The NBA has never been easier to drive against, which is also why players like Harden, who's honestly relatively slow and unathletic (compared to other great SG's like Jordan, Kobe, Drexler) are putting up insane scoring numbers this season.

Harden's a great SG, I'll even say perhaps top 5 or 6 - IF (and that's a big IF), he can actually make some noise in the playoffs and win a title at some point in his career. But his style of play has been exposed over and over the playoffs, which is also a bit of an indictment on how weak and propped up some (not all) of today's best scorers are.

False. LeGED's Finals series record is 1*/9. :coleman:

1-9

Didn't Lebron miss the playoffs his first two years? By Bran stan logic (severe and clinical mental retardation) that pretty much amounts to 0-8

1-9 > 0-8
