Pascal and Fox are WAY ahead of Vucevic.

Siakam, but I think Vuccimane does deserve an honorable mention.

Siakam, then the rest

Siakam and it's not even close. He's carrying the Raptors when Kawhi sits out.. which is like every other game.

Jake Layman went from 29% shooting his first two years to 53% this year. He's really helped the team with his play. Not gonna win the award but he's surprised me with his play. I haven't seen a player make a leap like that in a while.

Siakam is going to win this award, he didn't start to play basketball until he was about 17 years old.

Last year (played mostly against 2nd units):
21 mpg
50.8% fg (6.1 attempts)
22.0% 3pt (1.6 attempts)
62.1% ft (1.1 attempts)
7.3 ppg
4.5 rpg
2.0 apg
.9 to
.8 spg
.5 bpg

This year (playing the majority of his minutes against starters):
32 mpg
55.0% fg (11.4 attempts)
37.3% 3pt (2.5 attempts)
77.1% ft (3.8 attempts)
16.4 ppg
7.1 rpg
2.9 apg
1.8 to
.9 spg
.7 bpg

So in 11 more minutes he's proven to be a reliable threat from deep, is a solid defender all over the floor, is showing solid ability to find the open man, improved his shot selection and has become a huge piece of one of the best teams in the league. All while playing against more first unit players than last year.

All these other guys mentioned were already first unit guys.

Fox's chances die with them missing the playoffs IMO, but he's probably right there with Siakam if they squeeze into the playoffs in the west. He's had great improvement in his game and has meshed perfectly with Hield making them dangerous against any team, they are definitely on the rise (although it is the Kings so anything can happen).

Vuc is having a great year and really has put the Magic on his back, but he's their best player, they needed that from him just to challenge for a playoff spot, not convinced he will get MIP for it though. Again, no playoffs, no chance IMO.

Dlo has improved a lot on offence, but I think he's 4th in this group, still not convinced he isn't a "contract year phenom" waiting to regress.

Buddy Hield?

Probably won't get much love since he isn't on a winning team, but objectively one of the best 2 guards in the league.

Vuc and dlo were already very good... Their improvement doesn't even touch siakams who went from a bench scrub to an all star talent. Even motrez Harrell improved more than the former two.

Siakam is role player playing role. Vuc and Russel are leading their teams, siakam shouldn't win it

Both those guys have better stats than him

okay calm down, he's a A grade role player not an all-star. Compare his stats at 25 to Giannis stats at 22 when he won the MIP

Dude isn't going to be an all-star and if he does it will be because raps fans shilled for him

Deangelo Russell.

Theres no giannis this year for Pascal to compete with. Vuc and dlo already showed their all star potential in the past, their improvement is nowhere near siakams. Runner ups will probably be trez and buddy so its not even close.

The award is most improved, not the better player who improve.
