View Full Version : Fellas... I've done it! I've found THE perfect model for grading player legacies...!!

For years people have been searching for an objective mathematical model that ranks players across eras. It's been eulsive as ****, but I actually, finally devised a formula that works PERFECTLY.

What we want to know is how good was a player in terms of game-to-game, season-to-season consistency (this is where MVPs come into place) as well as performance on the big stage, clutch moments etc (this is where FMVPs come in) as well as the level of competition they faced in their era (with additional weight being given to finals competition)

Here is the formula:

(MVP + FMVP) / Era strength (assessed OBJECTIVELY) graded as a % of 100. The higher the total at the end of the equation, the better.

Take a look:

Kobe Bryant... 1 mvp, 2 fmvp (3 total) / .50 = 1.5
Michael Jordan... 6 mvp, 6 fmvp (12) / .25 = 3
LeHung James... 4 mvp, 3 fmvp (7 / .75) = 5.25

And look at that! A statistical model crafted on objective accolades, and voila... it conforms precisely to the standard subjective consensus according to the vast majority of basketball fans.

Fellas... we've struck gold here. This is it. This is THE formula going forward. All players will be judged on this.

I might win a nobel prize for this shit :biggums:

How about just ranking them by their SALAMI?

a much better formula =

kobe has 4 rings worth of prestige ( .5 taken off for 2000, .25 taken off for 2001 and 2002 for not winning finals mvp but still dominating the playoffs )

jordan has around 4 ( gotta take off .5 each for paxson 93, rodman 96, kerr 97, push off 98 )

lebron has -0.5 ( -.5 for ring chasing/colluding for all 3, -.5 for the 2012 lockout, 2013, 2016 bail outs. then subtract another half for calling silver to conspire a draymond suspension )

kobe and MJ are tied IMO

lebron has negative rings

You would actually ADD to the total for the push off. For him to be that good to know exactly how to push off such that none of the refs could see him doing it knowing that the game was on the line and risk a foul being called on you?

Amazing

What a time to have been alive to have witnessed such dominance as it happened.

What a day
What a WIN!

Now that's MJ the gambler. Raised the refs and they folded their cards. Boss :pimp:

so kobe gets more credit for 2001 and 2002 than MJ for 93 because of Paxson?

I applaud OP as the only Lebron soldier left to carry on with the war.

But at this point I don't think I have to assert any energy into piling up on Lebron's corpse by creating threads.

Today some will try to fire a few shots once Bran surpasses Jordan in all-time scoring but that's just a fart in the wind bound to dissipate with the more than probable Loss (maybe as blowout).

The man is absolutely done. The narratives are all exhausted and destroyed. Laker fans are booing him off the court, asking for Kobe.

It's Over. Done. Finished. Kaput.

i always felt the suns deserved 93 tbh.. they woulda had game 7 at home

there was no doubt about 2001 for kobe. 2002 was a dominant finals sweep.. the kings series was only rigged to go 7.. kings shot more free throws for the series and just straight up choked

OP's math seems wrong.

3/.5 = 6 Kobe
12/.25 = 48 Jordan
7/.75 = 9.33 Lebron

Jordan blows Lebron out of the water according to his Math.

Or am I doing something wrong?

Edit: I see that elementally morale also noticed it and got the same results as me. I wonder how the OP came to his conclusion.

Bro, I misspoke. You multiply the accolade total by a factor of era strength, not divide.

That
