why is the media pulling another fraud by making it seem like lebron compares to MJ as a scorer?

Imagine lebron with the ability to average 3-5 more ppg with better offensive efficiency...

while playing in a way that allows better ball movement and higher team assists...

but carry on..

Reggie scored 3500 more than bird.. lebron passing MJ means the same as this (nothing)

Jordan would have averaged 32 ppg in 94 and 95 if he hadn't retired. Those were two prime years. That would have meant higher career PPG, higher career totals. The Wizards years definitely hurt his PPG.

3 ppg is the difference between a Giannis/Kawhi-level scorer and Booker/Lavine

5 ppg difference is down to good role players like Klay.. basically a completely lower level

These are the scoring edges that MJ had over lebron, and everyone in the history of the NBA.

Unfortunately, the media/lebron stans aren't perceiving it correctly.. A bonafide 3-5 pt gap is huge

Jordan averaged nearly 2 rebounds and 3 assists less than LeBron and scored his points on worse efficiency
So when you factor in assists LeBron is responsible for more points on better efficiency

At age 34, career

RS: MJ 32/6/6/3 50.5%FG
LJ 27/7/7/2 50.4%FG

PO: MJ 34/7/6 49%FG
LJ 29/9/7 49.1%FG

How is Lebron better in any way? He has the advantage of averaging a couple more defensive boards per game, but MJ beats him in scoring and overall defense, Lebron averaged less offensive boards despite his size and it being the small ball era with him driving to the hoop more than Jordan.

And we're comparing stats from one of the toughest defensive eras to an era with the softest rules ever for guards. Lebron's a flat out liability at the FT line at the end of games too.

You are looking at the 90's through rose tinted glasses. Sure it appears that the defense was better back then but the league was expanding and the overall talent was just not that good.

Dear 3Ball,

You don't need to defend Jordan so much. We all know he's ranked above Lebron all time.

It was better solely due to the difference in rules. You could play physical defense and not get called for it. No 3 second rule in the paint, no heavy 3-pt shooting to open up lanes, MJ was finishing over bigs and he dominated in the mid-range.

Here's the thing - They are about equal at scoring in the paint, but Lebron is a horrible mid-range shooter while MJ was the GOAT. 3PT-wise, MJ was equally as good as Lebron in the few seasons he shot them at a higher volume, and I'm not talking about the shortened 3PT line era. Those 1 attempt seasons don't matter, but then you look at a couple seasons, where he took 3ish attempts a game and shot 35-38% from distance (1990, 1993 RS). Jordan took 3.8 threes a game in the 1993 Playoffs and made ~39% of them, he was surely a capable 3PT shooter but didn't need it in his game.

So they're about equal in the paint, but Jordan's by far the superior mid-range and FT shooter, you put him in today's era and he's at least as good as Lebron from 3.

Why do you have to make statements like this and shit on those who are all excited about LBJ scoring total?
