View Full Version : Does Lebron's "I need more help" mentality appeal to SJWs and millenials?

I work at a sports bar and interact a ton with basketball fans. The lack of personal accountability and support for socialist policies is a common trend I have noticed about Bran stans
Just like Bran always demanding more help on the court, his fans seem to be asking for more help in all aspects of their life

This generation of kids was raised on participation awards and being told nobody is a loser. Instead 'you were the last winner!'

Millennials relate to LeBron because they were too young to understand the GOAT Jordan. Their mindset is such that they feel like they are entitled to have the GOAT player be the one THEY saw play. Instead, the GOAT player is the one who has the combination of rings and stats. Michael Jordan. Their entitled attitude and flawed outlook on life won't allow them to accept this. That's why they miss out and will never get to have true enjoyment like gen X when it comes to basketball. Their loss is our victory. Back in the day, when a gen X was called a loser, they did what was needed to not be a loser. They worked, they trained, they got better. You call a millennial a loser and they have a physiological breakdown and become depressed and soft.

One, this is a retarded myth/narrative.
And two, if you are dumb enough to believe it, wouldn't it be the fault of the PARENTS? AKA baby boomers and whatever the generation after them is?

Not retarded if kids today are sensitive little snowflakes (which they are) and YES, that would be because of their parents.

Liberals say you're a racist or homopho when you don't agree with everything they believe.
Just like Lebron stans say you're a hater.
When someone doesn't have enough factual evidence to back up their beliefs they get emotional and erratic to change the subject or to make you think like them. But facts don't care about your feelings.
So yea SJW Lefties and Lebron lovers do have a lot in common.

Yes it is partially the fault of baby boomers but at what point do you start taking responsibility for yourself and actions? At some point you have to say, OK I was coddled as a kid but now it's time to understand how the real world works. It's so bad that a majority of businesses now have to put in game rooms, cafeterias, reading rooms, day cares... all kinds of coddle safe space shit to make millennials feel welcome and safe. I mean look at this shit...
https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-j-m--smucker-company/life
we need NCAA courts inside a place that makes damn peanut butter and jelly just to attract millennials. :facepalm
Any millennial I know that works hard and is ahead of the curve is because they had influence of gen X in their life like an older sibling that taught them the difference between acting like a soft entitled tool, and and acting like like someone who actually worked for what they have. Kids coming out of college with degrees telling hiring managers that they deserve jobs. You don't deserve shit. If you are liked in an interview you will earn a chance to demonstrate your value and worth.

And you really can't be ignorant to how there are PLENTY of whiny babies at all age groups. I can't even count the amount of people 50+ years olds acting like children and worse "snowflakes" than teenagers.

There was an interesting talk on Joe Rogan's show where they talked about liberals vs. conservatives and how they identify with themselves and others where liberals will turn on themselves if one of them doesn't completely agree with 100% of their typical ideologies. The reality is, is that any reasonable person would actually have ideologies that are a mix of both.
Can't remember which one it was specifically, but this one touches on those points as well:

Both of course. Just can't stand how people get so wrapped up in political us vs them narratives, it's a joke how insane politics have become in America.
Left or right at this point, it's 90% propaganda and most people are falling for it sadly.
Almost everyone can agree on a lot of economic/political points, but we have gotten to where if you step out of line on even one topic, you are devoured by your "own party".
It's ****ing pathetic.

I always find it comical when millenials try to gauge someone by what they are saying on a troll message board like this.
I'm willing to bet that bullettooth:
Is married
Has kids
Has a house that is more than half way paid off
Owns his cars
Has a job that he's been at that he likes and is respected at
Volunteers around his community
Is engaged in sports that his kids play in
Wtf do you have to show for your life? What have you done? Not saying you haven't, but we need more info to know if you are even in position to judge anyone other than yourself.

Not exactly related but I work with mostly 20 year old girls. I'm the only guy in my company's division. I've noticed that women amongst themselves are ****ing toxic to the point it'd make LeBron's drama look tame.
A few months ago, one of the girls left for another gig. One of the girls broke down in tears about the news. A month later, she herself quit. Her close friend (that worked with us as well) got in a spat where she shouldn't be leaving because it'd be like some kind of insult to the friendship. The two girls no longer speak to eachother. The one that stayed ended up having to go see a shrink about this.

Not married, but, I do own my own place (not going to pay off someone else's mortgage), I have my own car (Subaru Impreza FTW!), I've finished school TWICE after high school, and I've been working in my field for about 13 years now.
I do have to say, where I feel sorry for millennials is the housing market vs. salary pay. I got my my place dirt cheap about 5 years ago and now the housing market in my area is nuts. Cost of living has gone up, but everyone's salary has remained the same.
In this case, I do believe that millennials legitimately are ****ed at no fault of their own. Not sure how this will have to change because buying a home today for people in big cities in north america is out of reach for the vast majority.

I naturally assumed most of what was on the list you had under your belt simply because of your approach to this whole LeBron vs MJ debacle. Yes, they may be fuked but having a shitty approach to life because they never stepped out of their parents coddling isn't going to help them as we both know. At some point, a coddled millenial has to come to terms with reality and move away from mommy and daddy's safe space to a place where cost of living is affordable and they can come out ahead. Listening to everything you are told like "here, take out this student loan and you'll pay if off your first year in the work force" is something they need to overcome. Maybe do some research and find out shit before taking everything at face value. Ask people that have life figured out what to do, instead of asking those who stand to profit off of you on what you should do.

That's actually one of the reasons why I'm looking to GTFO from my current job; been there for years. While it does have a few perks, it's the pay inequality that pisses me off most. I was just in a boardroom meeting a few days ago and had to listen to my boss go on about how our first quarter has been great so far, we all did really well, huge revenue, etc. etc. which sounds like fantastic news... except that none of us will see any of those profits... except for the managers. And this is where it gets ****ed up; the manager makes $165k/year while the assistant manager makes 70k/year. How in the **** is that right? There's a lot of other stuff that's been going on in my job but I'm far too embarrassed to say, but needless to say; I'm looking for a new gig and already had interviews.

Oh, that's what you concluded is it? Anyone born between 1981 and 1996 (ages 23 to 38 in 2019) is considered a Millennial, and anyone born from 1997 onward is part of gen Z. That's the general consensus but if we are talking about the whole coddled/special snowflake/everyone is a winner outlook, then based on my experience the cutoff is somewhere around those born between 1986 - 1996. People born earlier than 86 seem to relate more towards gen X thinking.

That's actually true, these people (which is where I fall into) don't belong to either group. There's a term called 'Xennials' which basically lumps us into a group where we still have the Gen X mindset of you have to earn shit in life. We grew up on landlines, had to call friends and hope their parents didnt pickup the phone, we met and dated people by actually meeting them in person instead of doing it online, we actually went outside and formed relationships with friends before social media took over, etc. Basically, we grew up in an analog age but reached the digital age when we became adults.

If you were born after WW2 in the US, you're coddled regardless. We need to accept that rather than act all high and mighty when we haven't been through any difficulty. In fact kids growing up now have it harder. The 90's was an idyllic time for the US and it was the decade that I came of age in (HS etc)

Be weary of places that are in an aggressive state of growing. I've been at my company 7 years and this is the 2nd year in a row where I've not gotten the company match for my bonus. Our bonus is 25% of our yearly salary at my level. 50% of that is based on individual performance, and 50% based on how the company is doing. Now we've had an ownership change and ever since then, we've not gotten the company match the last 2 years even though we've grown the business 10% each year the last 2 years. The reasoning is because we spent too much money to do it. What's ironic is that the CFO won't show me the figures for the years where we did get 100% match. He knows that if that figures show that we spent the same amount the last 5 years as these last 2, shit is going to hit the fan. This company LOVES it when I rock the boat, especially HR. :lol
We will find out later this month if we are getting a company match and if it's 0% like it was the last 2 years, this fortune 500 company is going to lose some serious talent. Fortunately for me, I've gotten the full 12.5% due to performance but not getting the other half which I'm used to getting and it is pissing me off especially if we are growing the business. Certain mid level managers have already told me they will leave if the same shit happens this year, and in this field, head hunters will make $20k off placing them in a new position and they will have a job within a week or two.
Then end all be all gig at my level I believe is to find a small investment firm that wants to buy a business. You walk in there and double the profits in 3 years but you make sure you have stake in the company. Then you are basically working for yourself and are motivated to work harder. And yet...plenty of people out there would call that the action of a "snowflake" who can't handle "different viewpoints", and accuse you of only being able to live in your personal "bubble", where all the information you receive conforms to your already held beliefs and biases.
But you would disagree with them calling you a snowflake right?
Yeah I would. It's not that I can't take it... it's that I'm tired of hearing about it. It was interesting the first 50 times I heard bitching about a particular social issue, now it's just like that annoying song by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper that's played over and over and over again.
I log onto facebook or any other platform like it (reddit, for example) as an escape from bullshit, kind of like here; trolling LeBron fanboys with gifs is fun. I'm sure they love to respond seeing how the back and forth goes on forever.

It is now.
I use Facebook less and less... i've had to 'unfollow' certain people because all I see from them is complaining about social justice and other shit. Most of these people are in their 30s and up. It's embarrassing.
I hardly use the shit. Nothing but people taking pictures of shit that they bought or what they did that day trying to gain social acceptance. People like us have our shit together, we don't need acceptance from others in the form of facebook to know who we are. We don't have to post it. We lived it. It's pathetic.

Yah I more or less feel that way about instagram. I have an account, but I only use it to lurk. And the only reason why I have it is because a friend of mine forced me to sign up to follow some hot girl we were friends with. Otherwise; in the 5 years or so I've had the account I've never posted anything. Even when all my friends tell me I should because I'm a great photographer (not to brag, I know I am) but I don't care to post because.... what's it gonna do for me? Get some likes? Maybe even a lot of likes? For what... validation? I don't need validation from anyone. That's not why I do photography professionally or as a hobby.
I had this discussion last night with a friend and I remember saying 'if you wanna see my photographs, come over to my place... they're printed and framed in my livingroom. Maybe we'll even have a conversation like people used to instead of just hitting the like button.'

And does Jordans arrogant attitude appeal to them?

Careful, you are starting that millenial thinking again. This whole idea that everyone should be having a good life, and that no one should be left behind is exactly the kind of shit we are talking about. What you need to understand is that there are WINNERS and there are LOSERS in life. You will NEVER have a situation where everyone is a winner. It's not possible. Want to become a winner? Find out what is needed to become one. Work hard at that shit. If someone is in some shit hole country and wants to have the life of an American, then they need to find out what they need to do in order to attain that. What someone WANTS and what they actually do about it to GET it are two different concepts. Seems like this concept is lost on many.

That's what I don't understand. Why do most millennials NEED this validation more so that other generations? What is even causing this? I just view it as a waste of time and energy to worry about such trivial things. I've learned to pick my battles when it comes to hobbies and learning new shit. If it's something I'm interested in, I may take it up but if I have a friend that is competent at it, no point. Like why should I learn electric and carpentry when I have friends that can do that shit for me at a fraction of the cost and not waste my time doing it. I can't take a picture for shit but I have a good friend that knows the field inside and out. So when I need a good picture of something like selling a car for example, I just have him bring his shit over and it all turns out amazing. :lol

I didn't say everyone should be winners...because frankly that is an impossibly ideal considering human nature and weaknesses.
All I said was the REST OF THE HUMAN POPULATION outside of America wants to live a good life as well...so why should anyone be surprised when they reach the level of a "modern, western society" and compete with or surpass America in some things?
Hell, our OWN corporations have been selling out to other countries over our own citizens just to make more money at the expense of Americans for DECADES.

I would think that when you are the best at something or trying to be, you just have to be that fuking arrogant to be the best. What are you suppose to do, tell yourself that you may not be the best constantly and risk convincing yourself that you aren't? Is that how an Olympian for example should think?
"well here I am, I'm just going to try my best and hope for the best"
**** that shit.
When I get the ball on the wing and am in a triple threat position, I'm telling myself "oh look, I have the ball. I'm going to score or put someone in easy position to score and there's not a fuking goddamn thing anyone can do or say that's going to stop it" That literally is my mentality. Anything else is soft thinking.
Now how many times would I turn it over if my mentality was:
"oh look, I got the ball. Time to do my best and hope for the best"
Do people actually tell themselves that shit and think it's going to result in more success than failure? Maybe that's what MJ told himself vs what LeBron tells himself all those years.

And I said what someone WANTS and what they work to actually get are two different constructs. We all WANT something we don't have at some point... question is wtf are you going to do to get it? The mentality should be:
"I'm going to do what I can to get this, and if I DON'T get it, then it's because I didn't want it enough." You may not get it, but at least you know your tried your hardest and even though you failed, you are at peace with yourself over that failure. You're not some fvcktard who did nothing and then look back and wonder what could have or could not have been.
Eventually you get to the point where you are content, so much so that you can waste a Saturday talking shit on ISH until it's time to go out later and you give zero fvcks because you got your shit together. :D

It's based on whether or not said arrogance hindered or helped the person utilizing that tool to achieve what they are trying to achieve. If the person exhibiting arrogance has come to a point where they are content, who cares if the wannabe didn't get his because he wasn't as arrogant. He has only himself to blame.
This construct that we are only as strong as our weakest link is a fools mindset. It DOESN'T work. You need incentive, and if you make everything an even playing field you destroy the incentive and chaos results. History has shown us time and time again, so I'm not sure why people keep coming back to this flawed liberal outlook.

Be grateful of what? That you are capable of executing the task in the first place?
That logic is flawed. By that logic, I should be thankful that I'm not shirtless living in Africa eating rice all day and tell myself "well since I've got it better than that, I should just be happy and not try to tell myself what I need to achieve new goals".
Asians and Muslims excel in academics and spiritual endeavors but are they content? How do they know they gave it their all if they behave outside of my example. They don't.

The people on the right side who are a problem are those bushwhacker red necks and farmers that are so far removed from real society norms that they have nothing to live for that only have hate for others to bring them together. Once Trump is out of office, their lives go back to being shit. They don't actually give a damn about what Trumps policies are, they just care about uniting and forming a hate group towards others. Meanwhile the real republicans who work in the big cities and suburbs that actually live positive lives and don't belong to hate groups and Christian Baptist cults are the ones that actually have something to live for. Whenever you see someone wearing a red maga hat it's comical because you know that person most likely is living a shitty life and what that hat stands for is all they have to identify with. A life so pathetic that it's predicated on hating another group of people and running them over in their 4x4 trucks. :facepalm

This thread is dumb as shit.
Millenials woke up to a world where the American Dream was dead.
My mother was able to afford a home and a car and raise two children just because she was willing to work hard.
That isn't enough anymore. Millenials are struggling financially, not because of laziness, but because they are growing up in a shittier economy.
Human nature doesn't just... change. People behave differently in different circumstances. Baby Boomers, and to a lesser extent Gen x ers grew up in a world where it was easier to succeed.
