He's not better. Kobe had no fear. Kobe had the better footwork. Kobe never took no for an answer. Kobe had no problem inserting his will and establishing his dominance. Alpha.

i think the real question is ...why does OP fear kobe more than MJ
since hes a lebron fan and is trying to downplay kobe/prop up MJ
the only explanation is he sees kobe as a bigger threat to lebron

Kobe shouldn't even be compared to Jordan, let alone LeBron. They can't even hear him from outside of the TOP 10. :oldlol: :lol

Well, I'd have to say he was much better, and I bet there are as many as four reasons...
Kobe shot worse than his team from the field, while Michael actually shot better than his team from the field. Consider that Kobe got open looks from mid-range for the first half of his career due to playing with Shaq. Michael did not get those types of looks; he had to create space for his shot each time/"create his own shot", and there has never been anyone who could do that as well as him.
Kobe was also given pampered treatment in terms of extra free throws, whereas Michael earned his free throws a lot more.
Kobe was a ball stopper. He liked to play in isos. This suggests that Kobe's style of play was that of a ball hog, while Michael's was conducive to winning due to being so unexpectedly efficient.
Michael moved the ball more, though he was more ball dominant early in his career than Kobe was.
Despite Kobe being a great defender, Michael was still the better defender of the two. Michael's effort could be seen all over the court, whereas Kobe contributed more of his effort towards shooting. Michael set records for steals, as well as blocked shots by guards, he was a great rebounding guard; his insane vertical leap surely helped him here, all of his All-Defensive team selections were first team (and many think it should have been a 10th First Team for his 1987 season), culminating in the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award in 1988, something Kobe never got close to winning.
There's never been a shooting guard better with the ball than Michael, and there's also probably never been a better shooting guard off the ball either considering that the defenses were throwing doubles and triples at him relatively quickly into his career.

It's pretty debatable honestly.
Michael was great...but Kobe took what MJ did best and adapted it to a more modernized environment. And in doing so, he stretched the imagination of what we as fans thought was possible on a basketball floor.
The NBA's greatest assassin. The Black Mamba.

If you honestly believe Kobe was a better and more impactful player than Bron I can't take anything you say seriously anymore. I know you give in to the insanity here a lot of the time, but you have to know nothing about basketball to actually believe Kobe is above LeBron.

You can't be GOAT when you are number one at nothing. In Mj's case he may be the best scorer but how is he the best scorer when Kobe and LeBron passed him. LeBron passed him in both regular season and playoffs.
(bu..bu...but career averages)
Not my fault MJ took 2 breaks therefore played less seasons than his peers. :confusedshrug: Career averages shouldn't be used because it favors him just like it favors Bird over many players.

Is the scale linear or logarithmic? And you need to define 1 and 5 on this scale for it to mean anything.

Just a linear scale. Is it really necessary to define 1 and 5 though? I don't think its that complicated. Although you seem like a math major so I kind of get it.

Thread backfire once again. Kobe and MJ stans don't have time to be pitted against each other when we are too busy making fun of Lebald's failure and how inferior he is by comparison.
We watched players with winning finals records while others have to settle for watching shitty 3/9, and then pretending that it's more than it is just to save face. Cry me a river.

I appreciate Kobe greatly - he continued the MJ style for another 20 years and 5 rings
And added a various wrinkles and a legacy of his own
How much better was MJ?.. it's unknown.. MJ was 6/6 when he had a squad.. so we don't really know how good he was - he wasn't tested sufficiently (never lost)
Indeed, MJ is the only top 10 player that is undefeated with 1 or 2 seeds, while everyone else lost a super-ton (lebron and Kareem had 6 and 9 losses, respectively)

hes also 24-0 in series with HCA and 25-0 as the top or higher/same seed
he never lost as the favorite............i think thats crazy and doesnt get talked about enough
its really offensive when ppl try to argue anyone else as GOAT TBH

Kobe took more bad jumpers than anyone i have ever seen. Especially after they cracked down on the hand check in 2004 he should have been attacking the rim constantly but would routinely settle for contested jumpers.
I remember one game against the Wizards when he got off to a hot start in the first half. In the second half the Wizards started doubling him and he just kept jacking jumpers, shooting the Lakers out of the game. After the game Nick Young said that they doubled Kobe knowing that he wasn't going to pass. :lol
When the Lakers played the Pistons in the Finals the Pistons put Ben Wallace on Shaq 1 on 1 with no help. Ben couldn't guard Shaq but the Pistons knew Kobe wouldn't be willing to pass enough to make the Pistons pay.
MJ attacked the basket relentlessly in an era of great defensive centers. That is why he scored more points on better efficiency. He was also more athletic making him a better finisher inside.

How come Jordan wasn’t capable of scoring 81pts?
Kobe could get hotter than MJ because MJ actually played different than Kobe and wasn't quite the chucker - he scored easier than kobe so he could pick his spots better
He also turned it up in the playoffs with the playoff scoring record (63), against a top 5 all-time team and #1 defense. So not the raptors

jordan couldn't score 81 and only topped 61 due to overtimes because jordan only has so many opportunities at good looks
kobe can make much more difficult shots/longer shots over defenders which gives him more opportunities/chances
so when he gets hot he could run off 80-100 if he wanted
if jordan tried going for 80+ he would need to take 10-12 threes, 15 long contested 20 footers.. he would fail miserably

It's laughable that people think MJ couldn't shoot 3's at an elite level if he wanted to
Nearly any poster on this board could practice a few hundred threes a day for a few months and become a decent 3-point shooter - not on the NBA level, but on whatever level you play at (playground, HS, college, pro, whatever)
That's exactly what guys in junior high thru the pros are doing - simply focusing on the shot and getting good at it... The notion that the goat, who had flawless form and set the Finals record for threes when he was challenged to shoot it, COULDN'T do what everyone is doing is ridiculous
MJ could hit threes better than Kobe and most of today's players
He just chose not to take them or make them part of his game
But anyone that played ball or is aware that he was goat from midrange and had goat FORM, should know that he would be an elite 3-point shooter today

Wtf did I tell you about mixing bourbon and ISH? If your back is hurt do stretches and core strengthening and fix that shit instead of pounding down tacos and burritos all day. Every time you are about to read a book, just allocate 30 minutes before hand for the stretches. My back started to get fvcked up from working on my racecar and that's exactly what I did (extra stretching and core buildup) now my shit is back to normal. We already got one on ISH in a wheelchair, we don't need another.
