What would it take, from a fan's perspective, for LeBron's #23 to be retired by the Lakers?

Every player who's number they've retired played at least 5 years there, and all but one (Baylor) won a title. Unless he wins a title I don't see anyway he gets his jersey retired, especially considering there's a good chance he retires by the end of his 4 year deal

only if he extends after his 4 years are up

if he never wins and only plays 4 years it would be disrespectful to retire his jersey

he would need at least 1 title to make up for the short stint

personally i think he goes back to cleveland for a 1 year deal after this contract

He'd have to win a chip, but that's not going to happen. Retiring #23 should be reserved league wide for MJ.

Definitely not at this rate. He'll have to either spend an extra few years there and get some deep playoff runs, otherwise win at least 1 title, probably 2.

Should have a statue in front of Staples Center for the way he rescued this franchise.

Needs to win a title, he won't play long enough to get the Baylor treatment

I will not be surprised if they retire his number anyway, not with that family running the team :facepalm

Should have a statue in front of Staples Center for the way he rescued this franchise. He'd certainly get one if he wins a couple and gives the Lakers bragging rights over the Celtics.

Ring + FMVP and they will retire it. Hes too much of an ATG to not to.

They will instead demolish the arena and all banners/jerseys within it. Then build a 5000ft marble statue of LeGod doing a Zyzz pose.

We retire any player who helps us bring a championship. Welcome LeBron. You were a huge diva ****** last year like much of your career, but you redeemed yourself buddy with a wonderful season. Hopefully he's ready to win 2 more with the Lakers
