Yeah no...

Great season, best of his career, but definitely not MVP worthy.

24/5/7 season on 50/40/90 shooting (not even gonna go into advanced metrics) while playing basketball how he does, is a bonafide MVP season in any book. Not his fault there are a few others better (Giannis, PG13)

Yep, that production on a team that's currently the 5th seed AND on pace to finish with 5 less wins than last year is definitely a bonafide MVP season

OP struggles to understand the basics of basketball. I'd assume he struggles with other day-to-day activities as well.

Leave him alone, guys.

I don't think I've heard his name mentioned in the MVP convo at all this season. Honestly I think it's just down to Giannis and Harden at this point. PG hasn't been the same for the past month

Imagine giving an MVP to a player who is defensively irrelevant at BEST.

Speaking of which, I could actually see ‘Rie being given a “Kobe MVP” in like 5 or 6 years from now.

Maybe you are a dumb idiot or maybe you are trolling but the Celtics have a better record when Kyrie Irving does not play you small brain boy

You must be confusing him with Lebron. Kyrie is actually a net positive on defense.

If he's having a better season than last year, and last year he was an MVP candidate, then its basic logic that he should be in the conversation this year too. Boston's problems have nothing to do with Kyrie, and winning without him is also a matter of situational context and bit of randomness.

Ofcourse he's going to have his best season playing without cancer LeBron.

Did some fucc boi ever think otherwise?

And yet his ppg has gone down every single year since leaving Cleveland

2017: 25.2
2018: 24.4
2019: 23.6
2020: 22.8 ?

And yet he went from three Finals to zero playoff wins. Will he finally get a playoff series win this year?

Solid take my friend. Any ideas as to why he's averaging a career high in assists and FG%?

He has the ball in his hands more, since LeBron is not running point-forward.

Interesting that he wanted to be "the man" and has been scoring less since leaving Cleveland.

Good God, everything OP says is dumb and wrong. EVERYTHING. Not once has he posted something that made some form of sense. Incredible.

Good thing scoring isn't everything in the game of basketball. How about points responsible for? I'm sure Kyrie's averaging a career high in that also. Seems to me like that's a sign of "being the man".

I dunno, I's say maybe 1 in 10 times he has a good post.

Wait, isn't that..

Fair enough. But did you predict his ppg would go DOWN after not playing with LeBron?

In Brad's system, I would've said probably stay the same or decrease a little bit. Hayward would be taking shots away, same with Horford. The emergence of Tatum was going to take some away. More of an offensive system than Lue telling LeBron and Kyrie to go win the game.

On the Celtics? YYes. This team has way more offensive options, so of course. That said, there

Scoring wasn't why he left Cleveland. He was already the closer and a 25+ ppg scorer in most series, problem was that he never got any credit for winning his team the championship and playing lights out down 1 - 3.

As far as OP goes, he's been playing at an MVP level since the ASB but there are a lot of great candidates that deserve it more. He's sort of in the same tier as Kawhi right now with him playing on a team that can win without him, so that should take a player out of MVP candidacy (if they've missed 10+ games and team's won at a high rate in those games).

Giannis has the MVP by far right now. Dominates every advanced stat (which voters love) and has his team with the best record in the league without a legitimate co-star. Middleton is not among the best 2nd options in the league.
