Out of extremely widespread franchises, eh... maybe.

Fuddruckers is without a doubt better than five guys. Zero percent doubt about that.

I enjoy Culver's though I can see people making arguments.

That only leaves one... hmm.. I've never had in-n-out though some people obsess over it...

I'd put Five Guys at 3 out of widespread chains that are available in my area.

I've had more burgers than you. I ate more burgers in my 20s than you will eat in your entire life.

I was doing burgers for lunch and dinner multiple times per week. No exaggeration. And there were weeks where it was literally every single day.

I have, however, really curbed it back in the past 2 years at 34/35... heart disease was inevitable if it already isn't.

The most overrated burger joint I've ever had is Red Robin. That place blows. Bigly.

I keep it simple... lettuce, tomato, cheese... that's it. Classic burgers are where it's at. If we're judging it off of anything more than that, we're getting into rather arbitrary combinations of toppings.

Lettuce, cheese and tomato are the standard holy trinity of burger toppings and as such, if you're just judging the burger itself, the taste must be judged based on these three toppings.

If you get into adding mushrooms and onions, bacon, eggs, whatever the **** else you can think of... your results are going to vary wildly.

How good does the patty taste... and the bun. Those are the heart of a good burger, if you really want to break it down.

My trinity is onions not the tomato. I am down with a fresh ripe tomatoes but I am not down with the old and soggy shit. That being said it’s pretty hard to mess up an onion. They just have a longer shelf life than tomatoes. You need that bite the raw onions give you to break up all that rich fattiness of the beef and cheese. I’m not down with the soggy. I can tolerate a little mayo if it’s spread on thin. If it’s drenched and soggy I wanna vomit. It’s about that texture. Too much mayo/ketchup/soggy toppings totally ruins it for me.

I want to blow my brains out thinking about eating mayonnaise.

I don't do condiments. Disgusting.

I like Five Guys a lot. We also have Smashburger around here, which is excellent, and Shake Shack, which I find a bit overrated, and Jake's Wayback, which I'm not crazy about.

Those are the slower, no drivethrough, bit more money, options.

We also have Duchess, which falls somewhere in between those places, and a true fast food spot like McDonalds. It has a drivethrough, but it takes a little longer, and it's franchises buy locally, instead of being tied to a national warehouse.

Also the northeast is littered with local places that do this type of stuff. Most of them are noticeably not as good as they used to be.

But then again, in NL we pretty much have McDonalds, Burger King and Five Guys ( only recently opened) and that is it.

Dude.

Texture is everything.

You have to SPREAD the mustard or mayo. Not just squirt globs of it on. Shit is disgusting and makes me throw up just like you.

I don't even orders burgers anymore with any condiments. The only place that actually spreads the mustard is whataburger. That way you just got a hint of the mustard in every bite and not every so often big globs.

Spread, one of the rare instances where thicker is not better.

There is nothing special about Five Guys. It's hard to imagine that any of you don't live within 20 minutes of a better burger from a private establishment of some sort. There are a few taverns around here that really don't **** around... but at the end of the day, doing it yourself will always reign supreme because you can control everything and use only quality ground beef and bread.

Seen a few in long island. Tastes like higher quality food than Subway tbh but small portions (can get pricey). Only good one I recall ever going to was when I was down in Boston once.

In regards to Five Guys, the few I know of are pretty popular but people prefer Shake Shack. If you really don't mind dropping like $10-15 on a really good burger, Bobby's Burger Palace are amazing.

I had In and Out with my boys once after a night out in Vegas. It was pretty good (especially if you get it with animal sauce). Tbh, I've had better burgers in Cali at small restaurants. It wasn't all that great.

The hamburgers at Five Guys are decent but nothing special but their fries are good and a family can eat from just one order.

that's petty difficult to achieve in fast food.

chipotle is good bc it's macro friendly. eating a high protein diet? get a bowl with chicken.

what are you going to do at a burger place? everything is greasy af.

Get a double burger and dont eat the whole bun.
