View Full Version : I'm pretty sure I'm wrong but right now I'm drawing blank (Kobe related)

Just a thought that's crossed my mind and I'm somehow positive it can't be true: Kobe Bryant is the only allstar post MJ who repeated twice. Not just talking years he won, but rather allstar period.
I'm not even bragging here, just trying to think of another allstar who managed to repeat twice after '98.
Come to think of it, who else beside Michael and Pippen had that done that if we include the 90s as well?
Pretty sure there's somebody else, just having one of those mental block moments.

You're right. The only teams to repeat were the Lakers (00-02 and 09-10) Heat (12-13) and Warriors. And out of that, yes only Kobe repeated twice.
In fact, I believe if you go back further, the only All-stars to have repeated twice (since Russell) would have been Rodman and Pippen

Nice! Being as he was an All-Star during two repeats, is he a 4x FMVP winner?

Kobe's the only all-time great since Jordan to do it.
3 straight Finals on two different occasions in the toughest Conference & winning 5/6 of them? That's amazing. Would be 2x 3-peat if the Lakers weren't injured in 2008.

They wouldn't have won in 2010 in Perkins doesn't go down early in Game 6.

LOL.. Lakers had a chance to win but Kobe and Co. CHOKED in game 4 after being up by 24 at half.. I can see a team now coming back being down by 24 because the scoring is much higher but back then 24 was a huge amount of points.. BIGGEST CHOKE IN FINALS HISTORY.. That is y the Lakers didnt win in 2008

It was only possible because Boston was way more stacked, had one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the league and KG was abusing Pau all series, a healthy Bynum & Ariza would have made it a 7-game series.
Kobe had 10 points in the 4th and we still lost the 4th quarter by 8 points.
Almost all of the points scored in the last 2 mins were on Gasol as well & refs gave Pierce 2 FTs off a flop when he bumps into Kobe at the 3-pt line with like 5 seconds left on the shot clock to make it a 5 pt game with like 45 seconds left.
Kobe was hitting clutch shots left and right in that game but they couldn't stop Boston on the defensive end.
