lol no. Rudy Gobert is EASILY the best defensive player in the league. They don't always give the DPOY to the best defender (probably only half or less really), but either way, Giannis has zero case for DPOY over Gobert or a lot of guys really. Giannis isn't even top 20 in drpm. Even if they gave it to a perimeter guy, someone like Paul George would deserve it more.

I literally just pointed out that Giannis wasn't even top 20 in DRPM (you know...an advanced stat) while Gobert is 2nd in the league and that's 2nd to Ed Davis who plays 18ppg, so he's basically one. DBPM? Giannis is a 5.1 to Gobert's 5.0. DRPM is much more indicative of defensive impact. Defensive win shares? Giannis has 5.0 to Goberts 4.9 despite his team having 11 more wins. His advance stats trump Gobert's? I guess they do if you have no idea what you are talking about.

He deserves it. I wouldn't be surprised if bucks don't make it out of first round though. Until he gets a consistent jumper I can't see him dominating the post season
