Giannis is the MVP of 2019 and I'll explain why very easily.

At this point the MVP seems to have boiled down to three players:
-James Harden
-Giannis Antetokounmpo
-Paul George
When talking about MVP candidates everyone knows that wins matter. Let's look at last year's team win numbers compared to this year's
Last year vs this year (+/-)
-James Harden
2018 = 65
2019 = 52 (pace)
Net = -13
-Giannis Antetokounmpo
2018 = 44
2019 = 60 (pace)
Net = +16)
-Paul George
2018 = 48
2019 = 48 (pace)
Net = 0
Statistics also matter
-James Harden
36.5 ppg*, 6.5 rpg, 7.6 apg, 2.2 spg, 0.8 bpg, 44/36/88
PER: 30.5
WS: 13.1
-Giannis Antetokounmpo
27.5 ppg, 12.6 rpg, 6.0 apg, 1.3 spg, 1.4 bpg, 58/25/73
PER: 30.7*
WS: 13.2
-Paul George
28.2 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 4.2 apg, 2.2 spg*, 0.5 bpg, 44/39/84
PER: 23.8
WS: 11.1
*denotes league leader
Supporting cast
-James Harden = Chris Paul; Clint Capela
-Giannis Antetokounmpo = Kris Middleton; Eric Bledsoe
-Paul George: Russell Westbrook (Former MVP); Steven Adams
My vote is for Giannis
He leads the league in PER (by a very small margin) arguably has less help than Harden and George, and also slightly edges Harden out in Win shares.
The kicker is in the win total boost. The Bucks should end up with the best record in the NBA and will be a major improvement from last year's win total.

Harden should run away with. He is averaging 8 more points than the 2nd leading scorer in the league, that is insane. Houston has also played as well as anyone in the Western conference after their slow start.

Agreed best player on the best team + leading the league in PER and win shares the MVP should go to none other than the Nigerian Freak :applause:

I guess Kobe should have won MVP in 06 as well since ppg is all that seems to matter

Harden is the best playmaker in the league on top of averaging nearly 10pts more per game than the 2nd most. That is just crazy.

I think they will give it to Giannis based on record and cast.
But the monster season of Harden is too big to be ignored, IMHO he has a slight edge om Giannis only for his huge advantage in ppg over the league also leading the team in assists and with an injured cast.
Who I think should win: Harden.
Who I think would win: Giannis

Okay so consensus at ISH is to cut PG13, I'm fine with that. So now we have two candidates
Harden and Giannis
James Harden
36.5 ppg*, 6.5 rpg, 7.6 apg, 2.2 spg, 0.8 bpg, 44/36/88
PER: 30.5
WS: 13.1
Record = 52 (pace)
Giannis Antetokounmpo
27.5 ppg, 12.6 rpg, 6.0 apg, 1.3 spg, 1.4 bpg, 58/25/73
PER: 30.7*
WS: 13.2
Record = 60 (pace)
Can we really ignore Giannis's defensive impact and 8+ wins, not to mention Harden's wins dropped off from last year...Was that Ariza's doing last year? :confusedshrug:
If we delve into other advanced analytics we fiind:
DRtg
Harden: 109
Giannis: 99
ORtg:
Harden: 118
Giannis: 121
Gianni's numbers are ridiculous, right on par with LeBron in Miami when he won MVP
2009 LBJ
ORtg: 122
DRtg: 99
2010 LBJ
ORtg: 121
DRtg: 102
2012 LBJ
ORtg: 118
DRtg: 97
2013 LBJ
ORtg: 125
DRtg: 101
1991 MJ (best year)
ORtg: 125
DRtg: 102
So clearly Giannis is not at LBJ's peak for MVP, and MJ was extremely close, but Giannis isn't terribly far behind at 121 ORtg, 99 DRtg
Scary shit to say the least...

^Nice quality post Corp, and unbelievably no mention of LeBron or hidden agenda, that I can see. You should post like this more often. :applause:

Thanks man, I'm trying but some of these trolls (3ball/super duper, Kenny, Deronzan m8) make me.
But I'm trying to be a better man now :bowdown: :cheers:

Excellent post
It's definitely Giannis although the media loves Harden enough to pretend that he also has a strong argument, but the reality is that no one impacts the game on both ends like Giannis. If Bucks weren't blowing teams out (largely because Giannis puts them in position to blow teams out) he'd easily average more points. As it stands he averages 30 points per 36 minutes and that's while being arguably the best defender in the entire league
He bested Harden in their first matchup, will be interesting seeing how the 2nd matchup goes

Giannis is on pace for 60 wins, which is a considerable improvement from last year's win total.
He has also played better defense by a mile and his second best player is NOT Chris Paul.
Giannis for MVP boys
