Playoff records

Bird vs Jordan 6-0
LeBron vs DeMar 12-2

Did Bird treat Jordan like LeBron treated DeMar in the post season?

We've always said LeBron is better than Bird...

And DeMar and MJ would be similar in the modern era...

Holy...Shit.

Would LeBron treat Jordan the way he treats DeMar which would be the same way Bird treated Jordan like DeMar?

Was MJ more shook of Bird or was DeMar more shook of LBJ? Which is more demoralizing?

MJ 0-6 vs Bird

or

DeMar 2-12 vs LeBron

One got his head dropped double the times, but the other literally never even tasted a win :confusedshrug:

Anyone?

Do you expect year 1, 2, 3 Jordan to be able to single handedly beat an all time great arguably top 5 player of all time and top 5 team of all time? It would be a different story if he was in his prime but it was literally rookie, sopho, and year 3 Jordan.

I hope you're able to provide a decent answer to this question.

I'd love to, but first I'm still not entirely sure if you're 3ball or not because you both posses many crazy-like tendencies...

Bird is not top 5. Here is a test to see if you are 3ball, then we can discuss further

What is your top 5 and where do you rank LeBron James?

Bird is not top 5. Here is a test to see if you are 3ball, then we can discuss further

What is your top 5 and where do you rank LeBron James?
MJ (best combo of stats, MVPs, FMVPs, accolades, titles and playoff stats)
KAJ (also combo of stats, MVPs, accolades and titles but he wasn't the best Laker in a few of his titles)
Wilt (most insane stats but not enough titles)
Magic (MVPs, leader of one the GOAT teams with 5 titles)
Duncan (longest stretch of dominance by a franchise 99 first title to 14, MVPs and sonning James, the best player of this generation 2 of 3 Finals)
Bird (MVPs, clutch, leader of one the GOAT teams with 3 titles, injury cut short his career)
Shaq (utter dominance late 90s to mid 2000s, 3 FMPs and 4 titles)
Russell (sheer number of titles and team dominance but Russell is not even the top C historywise, you're a fool if you pick Russell over KAJ, Shaq or even Hakeem)
LBJ (accumulative career stats, exposed now that he's left the LEastern Conference, 3-6 is not top 5 GOAT material)

James best argument is the string of 8 straight finals but being exposed now that he's out West is not gonna help his arguments much. I predicted back then that James would end up with 4 MVPs, again falling short of equaling MJ in another category...James is this generation's stand out player but he no longer is the best player and he most likely will never again make the Finals, unless he's piggybacking on someone else's team and definitely will never win another FMVP...

His case for GOAT has passed...he's now Karl Malone, racking up stats due to longetivity, which is a good thing but thats not good enough to bump the top 5 GOATs from their standings...
most likely end up just outside of top 5.

86/87' L Birdf - 3 HOF teammates
86/87 Jordan - 0 HOF teammates

14 Duncan - 3 HOF teammates
14 Lebron. - 3 HOF teammates

17' Durant - 2-3 HOF teammates
17' Lebron -w 2 HOF teammates

So MJ had a much bigger talent gap but played the celtics closer than lebron played various teams (record loss)

Like I've been saying - lebron sucks compared to MJ, and after this season's exposure, it's becoming obvious to MJ.. heck, Kobe's back in the mix, and others

Same as MJ vs. Pistons in 89', except:

Jordan 89'.. ECF. - 30 on 46.5%.. Dumars 13 on 37% (4 below RS avg).. Pippen 9.7 on 40%
Lebron 15' Finals - 35 on 39.7%.... Iggy.. 16 on 53% (8 above RS avg)... Mosgov 14 on 55%, Tristan 10/13 on 50%

So MJ held his man down and got less help from Pip than lebron got from mosgov and tristan

Also side note, if Kyrie and Love were to retire right now I don't see them making the HoF

Kyrie has barely started his career..

Yet both Kyrie and Love are locks according to bballref - Love's HOF probability is at 67% (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/loveke01.html) and Kyrie at 61% (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/i/irvinky01.html)

Btw, you can't get LeBronto'd as an 8 seed... No one is expected to win the 8 vs 1 matchup and it almost never happens.. otoh, Toronto was always a high seed and higher than the Cavs some years

Larry Bird is top 5.

I'm glad someone else recognizes this. I'd pick Bird over every other great if I was starting a team because he would work well with any group of teammates and he could play whatever role needed. I would get a guy that could dominate the game without dominating the ball and one of the most clutch players to have ever lived.

That game MJ scored 63? Bird had 36, 12 and 8.

Everyone knows that. I mean no matter how you slot people, it's hard to understand putting bird outside of the top 5. I can't believe people do it... but even if they do, he's like top 6.

Some people are just really good at basketball, regardless of stats or winning, but Larry got stats + having GOAT level intangible impact AND winning vs great competition.

Edit: The God quote is interesting, sure, but imagine being one of the best people in the world at something and seeing someone do something you thought was impossible before, like so well that it seemed irrational.

You don't get to objectively 'watch yourself', so it's hard to measure that against yourself, but sure it's a high compliment. It doesn't necessarily say that he believes MJ was a more impactful basketball player than he was. Just that he did some wild ass shit that his mind wasn't ready to logically accept.

Edit edit: and he didn't he say... "I think it was God disguised as Michael Jordan." It was high praise of his performance that night.

If he had a master's degree, he'd understand simple logic and how being a 6 time NBA loser despite easy trips to the finals on stacked teams isn't anything to be impressed by.

Why is he impressed by it? It's all he's seen. It's his only reference point.

2004 pistons? Impressive
2011 mavs? Impressive
Kobe 3 peat? Impressive
MJ 3 peat re-peat? Impressive

Losing only twice in the 2016 playoffs en-route to the finals (cakewalk) and coming back down 3-1 against a team with 3 injured starters + suspension that came back being down 3-1 themselves the series before.... not impressive. Ask anyone in Cleveland.

Being a deer in headlights the final 4 minutes of play watching as your teammate hits a dagger in Curry's eye because your too shook to do it yourself..... not impressive.

Bricking a shot only to have it be made by Ray Allen because your too shook to make it yourself..... not impressive.

The media can't cover up for this guy anymore. He's been exposed way to many times. :applause:
