You know Hearst from season 3? His son founded the company that owns 20% of ESPN. He was also a politician and the inspiration for Citizen Kane but you probably knew that....

Unpopular opinion: John from Cincinnati is every bit as good as Deadwood, if not better.

As for this, I think Powers Boothe will be the only one missing (of any import). He spits out my favourite quote of the entire series: "Help me understand c*nt, Lord".

It's better. I'm guessing you're more a fan of "Swear Engine" and the gaggle of Deadwood characters than you are of Milch. I cannot see how a Milch fan wouldn't like John from Cincinnati. It's Milch in a different milieu. There's too many people on the Deadwood bandwagon. John from Cincinatti has been preserved intact, and you do get closure even after one season. The only thing missing is Molly Parker.

My only issue with Milch is that I never know what we can attribute to him (did my favourite quote originate with him?). The best written episode of John Cincinnati was penned by Abby Gewanter. That's why Mamet is the greatest of all American screenwriters. His style is inimitable. Fun fact: Ricky Jay wrote an episode of Deadwood.
