This guy's impact defensively is absolutely ridiculous, he alters games with his great defensive presence. It's amazing that nationally he's still relatively underrated defensively, it does not seem like he gets the recognition on defense that he deserves. Currently he's number 1 in the entire NBA in defensive rating and defensive win shares. The statistics and they eye test both say that he's the most dominant defensive player in the game and DPOY.

He does and the Bucks do. That's the reason he's the likely MVP, possible defensive player of the year and the Bucks have the best record in the NBA.

Cool fact:

Embiid averages more points and rebounds per game than Giannis while defending more shots and allowing a lower percentage of shots at the rim.

Rody Gobert is actually. Defensive rating is useless when taken on its own. That's only useful when comparing within the team. He may have 5.4 dws to Gobert's 5.2, but his team also has 11 more wins. You go to DRPM and Gobert leads the entire league. Giannis isn't even top 20.

Gobert's a better defender. Giannis has the prettier plays.

Guys try to play defense but rule changes plus changes in offensive philosophies have made it easier than ever for guys to score efficiently

But yeah, Giannis is arguably the best defender in the league. Gobert is a better rim protector but Giannis is dominant as a rim protector, help defender, even good as a perimeter defender. Can guard 1-5, he's something else

Gianni's efficiency and impact stats shit all over emchoke. How are you 7'3 and have never shot over 50% from the field or have a ts% over 60? :biggums:

Dude plays free safety and switches on everyone. His defence is criminally underrated, best in the league

This has absolutely nothing to do with my comment but since you bring it up.

Giannis 3rd season TS%: .566
Embiid 3rd season TS%: .597

I think an underlining point about defense is the thought process , 'I can be in trouble against this guy'

Kawi Lenard ,has that presence and players look to pass the ball off, instead of taking him one on one.
I think that same presence is with Giannis ....

Players know he is long and quick , and can cover a lot of ground.

The Bucks when they had Parker , thought they could defend with just length , because of giannis abilities , but it took them a year to realize Giannis was on a different level , then anyone else.
