Why didn't the Lakers sign Melo?

I wondered that, too. Like is Melo seriously THAT bad at this point? I figured if anything he could fill the seats or create a tiny bit of buzz/hype since LeBron is on restricted minutes and Staples fans aren't happy about him missing games.

I posted a news article a month ago about it. basically Melo was interested at first, but after seeing that they wouldn't make the playoffs, distanced himself from the Lakers.

I remember reading that too but the Lakers still had chances to get him and never did. Like is he really that bad now? I guess his lack of defense doesn't make up for his now decent-level scoring.
