Apparently 11 titles & 12 Finals is not as dominant or successful as 6 titles & 6 Finals

interesting take

this type of formula has a large influence on my personal list of greatest players

I think I might weigh trips a little too heavily, though

No man getting to the finals and losing is the worst possible thing to a player. Being in the 2nd best team in the world that year is a disgrace and that stain stays with you forever.

This is autistic way of ranking players.

It's a team sport so context and careful analysis is crucial

So then why do we celebrate players holding team offenses hostage in order to maximize their individual stats without providing actual on-court winning impact for your team?

Even in this hypothetical Lebron would be 1-8 which is STILL better than MJ's ACTUAL 1-9.

By such an enormous margin is LeGawd the LeGOAT

wait, but using LeStan logic, 9 attempts is better than 8 attempts

so why the flip flop now?

Why isn't John Havlicek on this list ? According to the criteria specified by the OP, he is #1 alltime

"To qualify, players need to have made at least 5 NBA finals in their careers and awarded the Finals MVP at least once."

Havlicek made the finals 8 times, won all 8 of them, and he was awarded the finals MVP in 1974, so the list should be:

1. John Havlicek (8/8, 100%)
2. Michael Jordan (6/6, 100%)
3. Bill Russell (11/12, 92%)

Thanks. True, trips relative to conference competition should be taken into account. In the past 2011- decade it's been much more difficult to make the finals in the West vs the East.

No all time great in their prime with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh would have been outplayed by Jason Terry and ultimately lost to the 2011 Mavs. Sorry.

As per OP, the greatest and most dominant winner ever was Michael Jordan.

There's no other answer.

Durant will probably hop into the top 10 after a few seasons. Dude is sitting on two titles in three attempts with two finals MVPs.

KD leaving the Warriors might be best thing for Steph. Dude already has three titles and zero finals MVPs to show for it..

8 straight finals in the weak East. Comes to the wild wild West and can't even make the playoffs
