View Full Version : MJ was great at 35 because he made 700+ jumpers a year - lebron's high is 423, so

he lacks the jumpshot that old MJ used to maintain MVP status, and therefore lacks the necessary skills to make a "comeback" next year as the best player

Lebron 2006 (http://stats.nba.com/player/2544/shooting/?Season=2005-06&SeasonType=Regular%20Season): 41.7%, 423/1166 <----- lebron's highest volume year
Lebron 2013 (http://stats.nba.com/player/2544/shooting/?Season=2012-13&SeasonType=Regular%20Season): 49.0%, 333/784 <----- lebron's highest efficiency year

Jordan 1997 (http://stats.nba.com/player/893/shooting/?Season=1996-97&SeasonType=Regular%20Season): 51.2%, 727/1528 <----- twice the volume with better efficiency than lebron's best

Everyone wants lebron to be great at 34 and 35, but he lacks the jumper that MJ used to be great at that age.. :confusedshrug:

This is fact - numbers speak for themselves.. :applause:

worst stats thru 6 games of any FMVP

the only FMVP that was a net negative

worst stats ever to win a conference finals (only needed 22/6/5 to make the 14' Finals.. cringe)

Well if he plays soup cans in the Finals then 41% FG should be good :lol

Or 4 reb, 2 assists. Again, this is granted that he faces soup cans in the Finals like Jordan did :lol

Scoring is more important than rebounds/assists, so a player can win with 4 rebs and 2 assists if they score a goat portion of their team's points, as MJ did in 98'

And MJ needed 46% shooting to get a 3-0 lead in 96', whereas lebron won with 39% thru 3 games (16 ppg) because ray allen saved him.. facts gonna facts..

Furthermore, if the jazz/sonics are soup cans, then what are the guys they defeated (Hakeem, Shaq, Duncan/Popovich)? Those guys aren't soup cans, so that proves you wrong/lunatic

Nice

It's hard to accept, but lebron lacks the jumpshot that MJ used to maintain his MVP performance at 35

So there's no need to get ur hopes up kid because I just lifted up the curtain... sorry, no santa claus.. :pimp:

Told you - Lebron almost always has more TURNOVERS than FG made outside the paint. He's simply that poor of a jumpshooter. :confusedshrug:

This. It's among the long list of why LeGED gets trashed so much.

Claims he's the GOAT for "winning one for Cleveland".
Last time I checked, Chicago Bulls hadn't ever won one either - yet MJ built a dynasty.

LeGBT never evolved. Never developed a consistent jumper, never learned to play with his back to the basket (or improved it), defenses have been LAXED to allow his stiff-arm 3 steps to the basket. Defense went from good to poor to non-existent. Throws teammates under the bus, never hear him give Ray Allen / Kyrie the credit they deserve for the 2013 / 2016 rings.

Just never got his teammates better. Same old 2006 Lebron - hold the ball, dribble, dribble, kick to a guy with .2 left on the shot clock for a cheap assist.
Always been very impressive on the fast break and makes great decisions. With the tool set God gave him (size and strength) he's been a huge disappointment with what could have been. Just didn't want to put the true effort in. Pity, that.

Ur spot on.

Ever since he was 12, the coach put the ball in his hands and said "I never seen anything like ya kid - it's your show".. So that's all lebron knows now - that ball-dominant, weaker brand of ball that needs ready-made vets because the style can't develop teammates/they become spot-up shooters

It's sad. "Needing" shooters and turning teammates into spot-up shooters isn't "genius", but people conflate his physical talent (Karl Malone body with Isiah handle) with "smart basketball" (all the nuanced skills you touched on that fit into high brand of ball/ball movement)

You can't really rule anything out for LeBron. He's still a top 5 or so all-around athlete, the best passer in the league with the best IQ and a 38-40% shooter on all jumpshots. Once he has a full-summer to recover, he could be just as great as before. He also has size and skill for when he drops down a level in athleticism. Lakers couldve been a top 4 seed if he'd been healthy. Give him a CJ MCcollum and probably top 3.
