Everyone wants to make this about LBJ being disliked... and that could be it...
But I don't think that's it. I think there's two extremely large factors at play here...
We're in an extremely different time where people are extremely image conscious... literally in 24/7 alert mode because of evolving technology. Being LeBron's bitch in a movie probably isn't appealing.
Not to mention, the financial aspect. Today's guys are paid so much more than the guys of the 90s and before that it's staggering. The amount that they're probably going to get on the set of Space Jam 2 pales in comparison to ways that they would rather be spending their time that would yield larger financial success long term, such as getting better at their game or maybe... just flat out doing something they enjoy.
It's 2019. These players are all worth hundreds of millions now. Not just a couple mil.
But don't let me inject logic and reason into this thread... back to the LeBron bashing! Woo!

Not a bad take. Anyone visible enough to be 'known' to casuals interested in this movie( say a Steph, KD, Greek Freak level talent) can shoot a few summer commercials in the interests of their own brand and make similar coin to being Lebron's foil in some cameo role. Kyrie can go shoot an Uncle Drew commercial or two and for all express purposes get the same coin.

lol You guys are acting like the other players who were in Space Jam were even great then. Two scrubs like Mugsy Bogues and Shawn Bradley were two of the players who got their talent stole. An old ass way past his prime Ewing and same for Barkley were two others. The last guy was Larry Johnson who was really nothing ever special even before he hurt himself. Not one of these guys is even close to some big superstar anymore or ever by this point.

during the time of filming bogues was coming off a season basically averaging a double double and did infact average one a year prior
sure he fell off after the movie came out but before that he had a run as a great playmaker averaging 9.1apg for 7 years. today that would equate to 12-13apg in adjusted pace
he was one of the best PG's like i said he was. you're caught up in ppg when PG's were TRUE PG's back in the day.. mark jackson didn't score a ton either

ricky rubio was more consistent but he never averaged a double double like bogues. and thats with the inflated stats today factored in. bogues 10apg from 94 would become 13-14apg today
and todays nba is flooded with talented PG's. back then there wasn't as many. i didn't say one of the best of all time. i said bogues was one of the best PG's in 1994 and 1995
