Come on now D Wade for sure! Even though his longevity being great wasn't as impressive as MJ, Mamba, or West at the SG, his GOAT status is still superior to Pierce. His peak-prime level and those three rings give him the edge. Wade is a top 3 SG peak-prime wise. And a top 3-4 GOAT wise. Pierce isn't CLOSE to that level among SF's. Pierce was a beast though and a top 10 GOAT SF!

But Wade is another tier of legend status. The only players SUPERIOR are top 10 GOAT kind of guys! With better health, we are talking maybe top 15-20 GOAT status. Because his overall career numbers and ring count would be higher. Bron likely stays in Miami longer IF Wade was healthier.

It's funny because most players aren't good scouts and can't identify actual differences in skill set and repertoire

So they don't give pierce credit for his elite skill in all areas of scoring, and blindly favor Wade's athleticism, while ignoring the top 10 talent and super-teams he played for

This is Wade, no doubt but it isn't some large gap imo. Pierce had almost the ultimate old man game while being in his athletic prime. Using his hips on his drives to beat people he was much slower than. His change of pace was masterful, although Wade was pretty good himself at that as well. Shooting was Pierce for sure, as well as post moves. Wade was more dynamic with the ball, was tougher to contain and could score in bunches better imo. One of the best ever at splitting double teams and his mid range game was money in his prime. Defensively I'll take Wade as well. Almost a bastardized Bird vs Mj type comparison, where guys are tying to boil it down to skill vs athleticism and it's way deeper than that. I say close, but clearly Wade.

Take another look at those gifs.. notice how MJ and pierce don't do a full 180 spin - they stop halfway and are actually facing towards the baseline when they end the spin and plant their foot down.. this move gives the impression that they're about to shoot a turnaround, but they're actually planting their foot down and about to attack the rim

It's a beautiful aikido-like move... You could stop time and put me in a gym for 1000 years and i would never come up with that move.. it's a literal genius move, and I have no idea how MJ concieved it other than to balance/protect the times he takes his lethal turnaround so guys can't overplay the turnaround
