Dave Cowens won the MVP averaging 20.5ppg 16.2rpg 4.2apg...which looks good. Until you realize he chucked up 20.0 shots per game to get that 20.5ppg. (.483%ts)

John Havlicek led the team in scoring averaging 23.8ppg...on 21.3 shot attempts. (.502%ts)

Jojo White was the 3rd leading scorer with 19.7ppg...on 20.3 shots a game! (.457%ts) This has to be one of if not the only instance where a player chucked up over 20 shots, but actually averaged less than 20 points? lmfao

The saddest part of all this? The Celtics were actually 8th in offense with a pathetic 98.1 offensive rating. :oldlol: There is no wonder basketball was dying in the 70s when the game was this pathetic.

Jesus, that is pretty damn bad :lol

I think this was around the time that grocery baggers and mechanics were putting more hours in off the court with their respective part-time jobs instead of on the court. As a direct result the fans received a well-neglected form of the game we know today as "basketball."

The entire league shot poorly back then and DRtg's were absurdly low (in the 90's.) because of zero spacing/no 3 pt line

and also there was no 3 seconds rule so paint-camping was pretty much legal

An entirely different game and night-and-day tougher defensive environment

Why are you even responding? This has nothing to do with Jordan or LeBron. You're out of your element, shut the fukk up 3donny.

Half the talent was in a different league, called the ABA. The separation of talent led to the worst decade of basketball. Once the leagues merged, the Golden Era of the 1980s began.
