The facts and statistics are there and a 1/4 of the league, none of which would be old enough to have any 'emotional' reason to pick MJ( outside of someone like Vince Carter), voted for him. You gonna be OK, or does Jeff need to put you on suicide watch?

Pierce had superior skills to Wade and it's not particularly close
Everyone, including you, the media and fans are wrong, just like you've been wrong about a lot of things that were later proven false, because you don't know shit about basketball.. that's why you all must change your opinions all the time - because you didn't know what you were talking about to begin with
Give pierce the same help as wade and he has at least 5 chips.. Wade couldn't play as an older guy because he lacked Pierce's skill

I'll repeat, since you missed it the first time, this time with the meat of the post in bold:

What emotional reason would 25 year old NBA players have for voting in someone whose prime existed when they were a few years sprung from their dad's n*tsack? Even if they're simply 'parroting' commonly held belief, it's not a vote based on emotion. You also can't assume everyone is clueless like Mitchell Robinson and doesn't know about Hakeem.
So with that said baby boi, you gonna be ok? If you're even thinking about pulling the trigger now.....don't hesitate.

I'd like to hear a non-longevity statistical argument for lebron over MJ - and lebron only has more win shares because he played way more games
Advanced stats - Lebron leads in bpm and vorp by a hair, but MJ leads in PER, ws/48, and plus-minus
Raw stats - Lebron leads in defensive rebounds and assists, but MJ has a big lead in PPG
DRTG and DBPM count steals, blocks & defensive rebounds, and the defensive rebounds is why bird beats pippen in those stats like lebron beats jordan, and many other cases with other players
So what's the statistical argument for lebron over MJ? I don't see it

Time for some turk to beat some sense into you.
The James trolls claim stats are what makes him greater than Jordan, while you can find players with better stats than James himself.
What will they claim then? Stats + titles? Accolades? There's no argument that consideres the whole picture which will push Lebron to #1. His claim to fame is beating the 73 win Warriors(albeit with one of the highest scoring 2nd options ever) and that would be a great narrative without '11.
You're such an insufferable homer. Anytime your boycrushes aren't ranked #1 you throw a tantrum.

Meltdown over Jordan? Lebron? I don't like either. You got your panties in a bunch over Lebron not being #1. You immediately went the insulting route. Shows you can't form an argument.
Lebron doesn't blow Westbrook out of the water in post season stats, who was a 2nd option for most of his career. Let that sink in. A 2nd option, who had severe injuries has almost the same stats Lebron has.
As a 1st option it's not even close.

What are his projected playoff stats this season?
Never should've been a discussion. Jordan edges him out as a player and also edges him out relatively when it comes to the resume.
Jordan was one of a kind, absolutely addicted to winning the way a drug addict is addicted to their substance of choice. Lebron had the talent but he never wanted it that bad - which is fine.
2nd GOAT and GOAT of his era - very honorable distinctions.

The overwhelmingly vast majority would be. You got your 40 year olds like Vince and Dirk. Then you got guys like Wade, CP3 and Lebron, mid 30's guys who'd have seen him as teenagers during the 96-98 run. By the same token the kids got Kareem 4th, and absolutely nobody playing in the NBA now would be old enough to have seen him in his prime( or been alive for that matter for the most part). Then you got them voting Iverson and Durant at 5th. So really, while this board likes to focus on MJ....those are your eyebrow raisers. But really, are the players of today voting for MJ now much different from those of us who routinely put Russell/Wilt and the like in their upper tier rankings? I mean, how many of us on this board have seen them play? Who would have any emotional ties to rank them? At some point 'history' does weigh into the rankings. At the least with MJ, he played in an era modern enough for there to be full videos uploaded of Bulls games so you can get a much better idea of him than say, trying to rank Oscar based on.....?
But, we all know how opinions work and anything contrary to one's own beliefs will ruffle feathers.

its actually more promising for kobe tbh
if this poll was done when kobe was still dominating statistically he would have gotten way more of the vote.
a lot of players never even saw kobe in his prime or when he won his first 3 yet he's still nearly in 2nd place. which means it will likely stay around 10% while lebrons number will only decrease as he gets worse over time and ultimately leaves

I totally agree, just like to highlight these odd logic games posters play here. We have a contingent of fans that swear these kids can't have an opinion on Lebron in an all time list yet will post a vote from Nba kids just as young as these posters here. Obviously you have to take the results with a grain of salt as I'm sure a lot of these guys are real young, hence the AI and KD picks. But damn, when you get such an overwhelming consensus, it just means, true GOATness transcends eras. Even youngsters who never saw MJ just KNOW he was that dude.
100 years from now, MJ still might be consensus GOAT. It's going to take someone truly special to be on his tier. That means GOAT tier athleticism, mindset and skills. LeBron had the athleticism but lacked the other two.

According to a survey by The Athletic, polling 117 NBA players, the best player of all time is Michael Jordan, and overwhelmingly so. Jordan took a rousing 73% of the vote, while his two biggest rivals in LeBron James and Kobe Bryant only mustered less than 12% of the vote each:
1. Michael Jordan (73%)
2. LeBron James (11.9%)
3. Kobe Bryant (10.6%)
4. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1.7%)
5. Magic Johnson, Allen Iverson, Kevin Durant (1%)

Anyone?
1) Playoff points - PPG is the real record, and MJ's lead over #2 is bigger than the gap between 2 and 10
2) Game-winners - none in the championship, lower frequency of winners, less overall clutch shots (game-tie'ers, stats late in tight games aka clutch stats)
3) Elimination game PPG - Lebron let weak teams take him to the brink (tatum's celts, oladipo pacers, dwight magic, dirk mavs, 36-yr garnett), while MJ only let dynasties do it (celts, pistons), or Finals-level teams (98' Pacers made 00' Finals and 92' Knicks made 94' Finals)
4) Steals - SPG is what matters and determines who was the bigger steals threat each game and possession
5) Gamescore - MJ won more Finals series because he maintained the highest gamescore over the course of the series (highest all-time Finals series gamescores).. He also getting the highest ever single-game gamescore against the best team (47 gamescore vs. 86' Celtics)

I'm surprised Jordan won by such a staggering margin because most of the players around weren't old enough to have watched Jordan in his prime and some aren't old enough to have even watched his last Bulls year.
I would have expected more of the current players to have a large share. Kobe, Iverson, and Durant are all ridiculous picks and that lends credence to what I said, but I'm surprised to see LeBron with only 12% of the votes.

Yeah, i'm very surprised too at the MJ margin and the low amount of LeBron votes. You would expect that since we are in the midst of LeBron's era, he would get more votes. Very surprising results.

I was saying that before, but Kareem's prime came before MJ even started in the league and unlike MJ, I don't think there's tons of full game video out out of Lew Alcindor. So what criteria is being used there other than hearsay, parroting popular opinion or looking at the record books? Nobody is the league is old enough to have seen him other than someone like Vince who would have been a kid in the 80's( and how much can you really understand about the game at that age)?
I'm wondering if the low Lebron votes are more to do with some growing 'anti-Lebron' sentiment growing around the league. Because yes, it is odd that he didn't get higher votes from current players just on the basis of recency bias alone.

This isn't even a debate really anymore.
The general public, the basketball press, the NBA players themselves overwhelmingly choose Jordan as GOAT. Like by a massive margin.
The 10 people on this board who think it's some kind of massive debate are morons. It's not some heated debate, and it's not even particularily close either.
Not only that but LeBron's number there is inflated due to recency bias, it will drop as time goes on (5, 10, 10+ years from now) and someone more recent becomes the next bandwagon to jump on.
Also that gap between LeBron and Kobe isn't much, it means many NBA players consider Kobe to be better than LeBron.

If you poll between Kobe and Lebron, I bet Kobe will beat Lebron easily.
Many players like Lebron’s style of play and might vote for him over Jordan but not many put Kobe over Jordan.

This poll echoes polls from the general public. Reality is the people who think LeBron has any case at GOAT are a small, small minority even amongst younger demographics.
In fact, he is pretty much neck and neck with Kobe Bryant. He's not competing with Michael Jordan, not even close, he can't even separate from Kobe Bryant.
There's about 10 posters on this board desperately trying to build up a debate where there is none really.

When LeBron gets his 5th ring that would jump to over 50% no wonder Jordan stans are shook :oldlol:
That's the victory you're clinging to? If this poll had happened 10 years ago, MJ would have probably gotten the same percentage of votes, and then guys like Kareem and Russell would have gotten some votes as well, maybe a few for Wilt and so on. There's never been any period where MJ would have gotten 100% of the votes, there have ALWAYS been a few players in the mix albeit at much lower percentages.

12% is a pathetic number, lol, 73% to 12% is supposed to be some massive debate?
It looks to me LeBron can't even get seperation from Kobe, that's a virtual tie with LeBron having a tiny edge due to him still being an active player whereas Kobe is retired.
Maybe Bran-stans should worry about that more, because that first match up is not even a debate, it's a blow out.
Dude is 34, going on 35, he's old. He needed to be at 5, 3-4 years ago, coming out Miami with only 2 titles was a massive let down.

What is so special about 5 again? It's nice you've built that up as something amazing in your head, but last I checked Jordan has 6 titles and 6 Finals MVPs.
This is not even close, lol, Jordan has like 3x the vote of LeBron + Kobe combined.
10 years from now LeBron won't even get 10% in a poll like this and he can't even get seperation from Kobe in these types of polls even while he's still actively playing.
He's 34 and entering into the downside of his career and only has 3 titles, which is nothing special.
