Came out a couple weeks ago, but there's a lot of people questioning the methodology.
I forgot what the issues where.

I always find stuff like this fascinating but never know what to make of it. Jeez, I am amazed they even keep evidence boxes around from a case that old. You would think they would be misplaced or tossed out more than a century later. I wonder what other age old crimes can be solved similarly and whether anyone cares about old cold cases.
Hmmm, I also wonder what the Kosminski family thinks of it all like 3-4 generations later.. :confusedshrug:

So you’re saying these women’s deaths were caused by immigration?

Well men can't leave mitochondrial DNA, so this whole thing is bullshit.

I believe the family participated in it, submitting their own DNA for comparison.
And I think the issue with the methodology is the how sure they are the apron they got the sample from was actually from a crime scene.

A mentally ill polish jew came to the UK to be a barber, then murdered a bunch of british women ? Does his identity give any further insight into his true motives ? Or was he just butthurt over a bunch of pretty Shiksas scoffing at his attempts to holla ?

Does sound like pop science, bs but Biology rarely accepts 100% stipulations.

“Our results suggest that, although the central dogma of maternal inheritance of mtDNA remains valid, there are some exceptional cases where paternal mtDNA could be passed to the offspring,” they write.
Now couple that with the fact that the piece of evidence has been handled by thousands of people who either didn't know or care about contamination of the evidence, it makes it a pretty much a bogus find.
If that wasn't enough, the fact that the barber had no medical education let alone familiarity with human anatomy and surgical methods of removing body parts, makes it all the more unlikely that he is the killer.
The murderer used a knife to make a sharp cut across the underside of the chin, a long incision from ear to ear. This first and fatal wound opened the carotid artery and Jack then effectively silenced each victim’s voice-box. Only a person with a working medical knowledge of anatomy would have known where to cut with precision.
Each torso was also opened from the neck to the navel. In a frenzied but highly skilled attack the womb was cut open above the upper ****** area. This exposed the pectoral muscles. The organs were taken out undamaged, including the womb itself. On several occasions, limbs were disgorged too.

Does sound like pop science b.s.
Not arguing with you. Just was sharing an interesting article I came across a while ago. Biology is a stubborn s.o.b.

I always thought it was someone with advanced human anatomy knowledge. You cant do that if you are average Joe.

The more I've read about it over the years, the less it feels like the attacks were so medically precise.
The artist Walter Sickert was an interesting suspect, but is pretty much ruled out. He was just a fun read. Not as fun as the royal doctor theory though. Which is why I think the medical background idea has stuck for so long.

The fact that they still had evidence to even analyze is insane.
