I saw him talk about the Ben Simmons tampering thing and how he didnt do anything wrong but still got in trouble for it and blamed for it which he didnt like and then I think Lakers are firing Luke tomorrow or soon and Magic probably dont want to be linked to that firing

The toxicity level is just out of this world at this point. I'm stunned, after all the positive expectations before the season started. Some players even expecting championship this first year, I'm stunned by the level of drama. I wish someone could make a detailed list. From the Anthony Davis situation with Lebron wanting to trade the whole team for him, Lebron's people leaking out that Lebron would rather play under a different coach, missing the playoff, to Magic almost full out crying announcing that he's stepping down, not even telling Jeanie Buss.

Toxic.

Well then hopefully once the toxicity leaves (Magic) we can get back to winning again. Fingers crossed.

No, actually I think Magic left because the Lakers environment became way too toxic. And I think it was caused by Lebron.

I think Skip Bayless painted a good picture of how shitty things ended after all thet excitement, high expectation for this season. From the Lakers ending the season playing their G League players, to LeDrama, to Magic deciding decisively to get himself out of such an environment right that second.

"On a night the Lakers are ending LeBron's first season in LA playing basically their G League team, the great Magic Johnson got tired of the all the LeDrama and the criticism and suddenly decided, "I'm better than this. I'm Magic Johnson. I'm going back to my old life. I'm out."

And I think that's a good lesson for all. And I don't mean in quitting your job, but if you find yourself in a position that's ruining you, and your future, F it all and get the hell out of there right then and there. Leave your belongings behind. Your life is more important.

Assuming you're not trolling for once, it was clear from day one Magic was not cut out to be a President of Basketball Operations for a prestigious, lofty organization like the Los Angeles Lakers. He had no clue what he was doing and any NON hater could spot that from a mile away. As a lifelong Lakers fan I was giving Magic the benefit of the doubt initially because he is the greatest Laker of all-time, but being honest about all of this he was a terrible operations guy.

Terrible trades. Terrible leaks. Terrible executions.

He was and is a novice at his respective position and did not take things as seriously as one should have on their pursuit to championship success.

She wants to trade Lebron thats why he's leaving. He's saving face.

I hope that palinka guy is gone too. Useless pawn.

I'm guessing he's leaving because he didn't really have any power over the decisions going forward and he didn't want to get the blame for what was going to unfold next.

He wanted De'Aaron Fox...Jeannie forced them to go with Lonzo, he probably wanted Luke to stay and the rest of the FO wanted him gone. He was only really hired to attract a big FA like Lebron and didn't have much to do with anything else but was getting all the blame for this season.

As big as Magic is, I'm surprised he lasted this long to begin with... hopefully Phil isn't the next President or we're screwed.

Magic had assembled a nice young core and then screwed up and brought in Bron. That was his biggest mistake. Bron will be the defacto GM now no matter what puppet they put in the position.

What kind of man just flat out walks out on his "family" when things gets tough?

Imagine going straight from high school into your hometowns NBA team, then taking that team to the Playoffs 5 times out of 7 seasons only to bow out.
Tough situation, so what do you do?
Stay and fight like a man, or walk out on your hometown team?
Well, Lebron walked, that's what kind of man just flat out walks out on his family.
He finds a new family, selfishly acquires what he needs, then like a man, ditches the new family to go back to the old one.
Spends a few more years with the old family and realizes it's never going to work out. Could bow out gracefully, show some respect to his first 'family ' that cared for him, but that's not his style. He's old now, needs a new girlfriend to make him feel fresh again.
Magics an ex baller that doesn't need the drama , the absolute cluster f

Magic wasn't hired to be the Lakers GM. He was hired to be a figurehead and to draw attention away from the Buss family drama when Jeanie and Jimmy were fighting for control of the team. When Jeanie won and removed Jimmy from his position as EVP of Basketball Operations, the first thing she did was hire Magic. Then the big story wasn't "Wow, Jeanie Buss is a cold-hearted ..." it was "Wow, Jeanie hired Magic to be GM!"

I don't think Magic really had any real responsibility with the lakers other than carrying that title of "president".

Lebron and Rich Paul should only blame themselves rather than the lakers org.
They could have gotten to the finals or at a bare minimum have a deep playoffs run if he would have stayed in the East.

I don't fully blame the lakers for failing to snap their fingers and assemble a super team out of nothing, but some of their personnel decisions was questionable at best.

Bye

Boobie helped Lebron get to the finals. Thats more than any current player on the Lakers ever did.
