It happens almost every year to at least one top 10 player.

He's not top 10 if you factor in defense.

its possible to miss the playoffs as a top 10 player. and nobody with any intelligence ever said the act of missing the playoffs makes someone dog shit

people rip lebron because of the false narratives that he could carry any collection of trash to the finals because hes soooooo great blah blah blah

meanwhile forever people have said the reason lebron makes the finals every year is because hes in the absolute dogshit east on colluded squads ...he had a free pass... yet all we still heard was "lebron will take this lakers team to the playoffs and win mvp because it would be better than winning a title"

so when lebron failed miserably it was a big f*ck you to every retard that shoved this nonsense down our throats year after year after year

missing the playoffs doesn't make lebron not a top 10 player anymore. HIS DEFENSE/FREE THROWS/LACK OF LEADERSHIP is

the no playoffs thing just means he's human and his past accomplishments are worthless

even kobe himself said yall gotta chill. the lakers team was riddled with injuries and it was full of guys that were bad fits around lebron and 1 year deals. the team wasnt designed to succeed and regardless they played well before the injury bug hit. so this still doesnt prove he cant take any team to the playoffs.

doesnt excuse his poor play after he got back from injury but it's a major contributor.

Isiah Thomas? You mean his first couple seasons in the league when the Pistons were hapless?

Not sure that should be put in the same category as 'vet still in his prime with multiple mvp's, fmvp's signing a max contract with whichever team he wants in free agency'

lebron is the main problem though.

1. he has poor leadership. his body language, blaming others, backstabbing, trying to get everyone traded, trying to get coaches fired, going over peoples head, his agent/entourage/locker room buddies being a distraction

2. his defense is so far beyond trash that it uninspires others to the point where they won't give any effort either half of the time

3. his free throw shooting/lack of aggressiveness to avoid blame cost them a ton of close games

4. letting himself gain a bunch of weight and not taking the recovery time seriously. coming back without a care in the world and no urgency. talking about activating playoff modes when he actually gave the same shitty amount of effort

5. the guys HE picked with magic to join last off season didn't fit

6. he chose his older rental black teammate buddy over zubac after a scuffle in practice

7. he brought so much toxicity to the franchise that it created a bunch of backstabbing to the point where magic johnson quit

8. hes been such a negative influence that jeanie has thought about trading him and just recently told lebron "its her team not his"

9. nobody wants to play with lebron other than anthony davis and even he's saying he might be open to staying in new orleans now if they pick a good GM. meaning he's losing faith in the lakers organization as well. even melo turned them down. its a dumpster fire at this point. their reputation is ruined

in the end all lebron is worth is some phoney stat padded numbers and a few ticket sales. he's on a 4 year retirement tour and now he's stuck with luke for another year with no anthony davis. the lakers should clean house when they hire a new president... fire and trade everyone. this toxic nonsense is a failed experiment that needs to be buried and forgotten

Kareem did that b2b years in his 20's. A better question is how does someone lose to an 8 seed to a team that had never won a playoff game in franchise history

Forget top 10. I though he was consensus top 3? How long is that list?

Isiah in 83 put up his career high, played with a younger and better version of Laimbeer and vinnie Johnson and a 27ppg Tripuka. They played a pretty crazy pace with helps the number but Isiah was pretty much Isiah. He was all NBA second team.

Hes one of those guys like Reggie who has everything they are remembered for later in their career but they were essentially on the same level for a long time before their teams were great around them.

Mini fro Isiah was nice. Im not saying its his FAULT they missed the playoffs. Just that they did. Of course it isnt these peoples fault teams arent good.

KG
Wilt
Kobe
Oscar
Kareem
Lebron
Barkley arguably

Something like that. Going into 05 few would have put KG out of the top 3. Same for Lebron. Kobe would have been up there in 05. Wilt that one year with the Warriors he missed it. Oscar in the late 60s...though you could argue Wilt, Russell, and West ahead of him I guess so maybe not top 3. I think players would have said he was though. Kareem no question top 3. The players voted him MVP on a sub .500 team. 1992 Barkley? Jordan Hakeem and who else ahead of him? He also missed it in 88 or 89 but you had Magic taking an extra spot in the top 3.
