From Woj

Despite Joerger engineering an improbable 39-win season, Divac is using the muscle of his new contract extension through the 2022-23 season to consolidate power around him, league sources said.

Divac fired assistant general manager Brandon Williams earlier Thursday morning, sources said, and planned to meet with players after firing Joerger.

What makes Joerger's dismissal confusing to many inside and outside the Kings' world is simply this: He transformed Sacramento's style of play into one of the league's fastest, most exciting brands of basketball, and point guard De'Aaron Fox has developed into one of the NBA's bright young stars.

Sacramento averaged 114.2 points per game this season, which ranked ninth in the league. It was an increase of 15.4 points after the Kings finished last in the NBA at 98.8 points per game during the 2017-18 season.

Tension between management and Joerger regarding playing time for certain young players and relationship strains impacted Divac's decision, sources said. Still, most around the NBA believed the team's rapid improvement under Joerger and significant overperformance based on preseason expectations would have forced the organization to consider a contract extension.

9-16 after the break. Players gave up on him. They blew so many huge leads. Between giving him an extension or firing, I'm okay with that.

Vlade’s HOF admittance needs to be revoked.

Very bizarre. I thought they had to choose between Assistant GM Brandon Williams and the coach, but instead they fired them both. Hopefully this means Willie is gone too, not sure why he started all season when he's garbage. I guess management must have wanted the rookies starting and coach wouldn't do it.

Him yelling at Buddy at the end of that one game after Buddy hit a fking 35 footer near the end of the game to keep his team in the game was weird as hell. Maybe he lost the locker room?

Maybe it ends up working out in their favor like when the Warriors replaced Mark Jackson with Kerr? :confusedshrug:

Not suprising its clear that the players don't respect him and the front office didn't like how he didn't give Bagley enough playing time

I kinda see it. Must've wanted to play Bagley and Giles more instead of 30 years old Bjelica.

He's the one that signed the 30 year old not the coach

I don't think the coach can sign anyone.

Things can change during the season.

They did. They were actually good and were winning. No one expected that

We've been winning 39 games despite his handicaps

So glad that piece of shit is finally gone

I remember in the games Blazers beat the Kings Willie Caulie Stein was terrible.

I wouldn’t blame coaching

Vlade wanted to field a good team only for this season to **** the Celtics. Back to tanking for a couple years, need another top prospect on top of Fox and Bagely to have a chance out west.

Joerger's a good coach, but he's also undeniably hard to work with at this point. There was some weird, snaky type stuff going on behind the scenes leading up to him getting the Grizz job from Lionel Hollins. He wore out his welcome with management in 3 years, cried, moved on to the Kings. Clashed with management there after a season or two, released those paranoid quotes to the media about the assistant GM being out to get him. Meanwhile rumors surfaced his bags are already packed for Minnesota. Either he's an asshole or one of those guys that just can't stay in one place for too long.

It needs to be revoked regardless. Vlade in NO way deserves to be in the HOF much less getting in before Ben Wallace.:facepalm

You know Vlade isn't going in the hall for his NBA numbers right? It's not the NBA Hall of Fame.

Lakers should grab this guy, wouldn't mind if he replaced Donovan either.
