A friend of mine dropped out of college and opened up a hookah bar. It was a lot of fun going there - became quite a thing for my circle of peoples... but I never enjoyed the actual smoking. I would go for the live music and byob, but smoking that shit is weird to me.

Based on that statement alone, I don't think you have ever been to a hookah bar.
I've never seen a hookah bar where they DON'T serve drinks and at least some kind of food. But drinks are always available.
Having said that, to Draz OP, I used to always pick a mint mixture as I smoke menthol cigs so I like that icy feeling. Mint-Mango, Mint-peach, whatever. Although I don't like Hookah anymore. I used to go eeevery week back when I was in high school, but these days I've gone once in the past 2-3 years lol.
It just started to become really lame. What made it fun before was the fact that everyone would meetup there to make plans. You'd hit up a few friends and go to the hookah lounge only to see all your other friends there and it ends up being an awesome night. But these days everyone is working...the only people who have time to hang out are the wealthy and the unemployed, ironically lol.

Draz you need to get away from Dominicans
We started buying our own hookahs and flavors to do at home. A $60+ tab for a round of hookah and beers, more if food, wasn't worth doing weekly.
Yeah, the maintenance is annoying but if you had two heads and heated coals to swap out its worth doing at home on a chill night.
Unfortunately, none of my close friends watch basketball. My only close friend who was a big bulls/Wade fan died.
I think it's fine to do especially when socializing you can actually talk and carry conversations rather than the opposite.
Best mix we found was Kiwi-Mint-Watermelon give that a try if you're interested in mixtures.

It's a social thing. I used to chill with a group that always wanted to go there and smoke. I tried it a few times and not my thing and eventually found new ppl to chill with :lol
