View Full Version : How violent are your day-to-day thoughts?
Prometheus

Do you often imagine yourself or others doing violent things?
If so, how severe is it? How often?
Do you ever imagine killing people? Not that you actually want to or think you should... but do you imagine it?
Do you have phases when it gets more or less regular to have violent thoughts?
If you do, what are the things that cause the thoughts? Road rage? Misophonia? Rudeness? Or is it just random?
Tell me as much as you can about your own violent thoughts.

I literally never have violent thoughts.
I think you've been projecting your "fears" about yourself onto me. This thread indicates as much.
I do have consistent thoughts about how retarded almost everyone is, but that's about it.

You've told me on numerous occasions that I frighten you. I don't have a violent bone in my body.
I think you're projecting. This thread isn't even a normal thing to consider. Not really. You might be a psychopath.

Anyhow... a guy I used to close friends(we're still friends) with confided in me on multiple occasions that he has random thoughts throughout the day of shooting or killing people. And then when he sleeps... every single night... literally every single night... in his dreams... he's murdering up a storm... and allegedly they're all faceless.
And this guy went on to become a police officer. He hasn't killed anyone and he's been on duty for almost 10 years and he's had justifiable reasons to do so... but never even so much as fired his gun. It's interesting. Some clear heavy amount of damage there.

No you don't frighten me at all. You disturb me. You've expressed views which I thought were nihilistic. That's all.
Maybe I am... but I don't think so. I have a lot of violent thoughts, but not really violent urges. I imagine very intense brutality all the time... whether it's me doing something violent, seeing someone else do something violent, or someone else doing something violent to me. It isn't that I want these thjngs to happen... not at all. It's just my imagination, and it's extremely vivid.
I have imagined killing just about every person I have ever met. That doesn't mean I have ever wanted to do it.

I think a lot of yall (people in general) are sheeps who follow everything each other does.
Outiside of wanting every murderer to die the same way they killed their victim/rapist to be raped the same way they raped their victim. i have no violent thoughts.
Honestly, all criminals should be forced to suffer what they did to other ppl. Example making them get hooked on a drug by repeatedly giving them the drug until they are dependant on it

I actually walked away from a long, very close friendship with a guy because I became convinced that he truly was a psychopath. He would talk about violence all the same, but with him it was very different. It was like a maniacal hunger at the thought of killing. First became friends with the dude around age 13 - it was like a slow deterioration of his personality over the next decade into an extremely dark person. I became psychotic and paranoid, convinced that he was planning to murder me. Been six years now since I saw the guy.

Example: I am visiting my brother's family right now. He has three kids whom I love very dearly. Youngest is an 8yo girl. Impossibly cute. I look at her tiny, fragile body, and think of how easily it could be crushed, ripped to shreds, etc. I imagine smashing her head in with a baseball bat... this image in my mind immediately triggers a profound anguish, as one would feel if they saw such things done to one they love, and in that single moment I feel such overwhelming love and desire to protect her from all such bodily harm. Then I pick her up, tell her that I love her, and kiss her on the forehead.

Eh, I guess with some actual introspection and hearing that... I have something similar I guess... I look at people and know that I *could* kill them and their entire family with my bare hands and they couldn't do anything about it... but it never goes further than that. I put it out of my head. It doesn't linger.

Not violent per se, but I'd love it if some people would never cross my road again.
Wouldn't kill someone and wouldn't want others to kill that person, but for example wednesday at the check out there was this woman who made everyone in line wait for like 5 minutes over 1 euro. **** people like that.
Road rage is something in that mold. I wish everyone who can't follow simple rules like keeping distance, not cutting in, etc would just disappear. Especially people who can't keep their eyes on the road for whatever reason, being UI, phoning/texting.

It honestly sucks sometimes. I don't enjoy thise moments. Especially about my little neice. Can't help it though.
It’s possible you have OCD. Read up on the intrusive thoughts aspect of OCD.
I have OCD and I have had such thoughts for a very long time. They horrify me and such thoughts are against everything I stand for, but they will arise nonetheless.

She took 2 packs of spinach, which were "buy 2 get one free", but she took different brands. Cashier told her if she takes the same brand she'll get the offer. Cashier gets the other brand, but that woman didn't have a customer card. Cashier leaves again to get the spinach into the freezer, because she didn't want it for that extra euro.
Don't tell me such people don't annoy you. Especially at lunch break.

i dunno, maybe in the moment, but id let go of it after cause i dont like looking down on people really.
but why would she take 2 packs, shouldnt it be 3 since the 3rd is for free? or would the free one be given to her?
cause otherwise its just like buy a spinach and get another for free lol

Ofc I let go after a few moments, but in general situations like that make me hate people. Not because she did it on purpose, but she basically puts stress on people wasting their time who have to get back to work soon. Just pay the fn euro. It's not like it's wasted.
And yeah, should've said buy one get one for free. "1+1 gratis" for us I guess.

Edgy.
Why do you fear confrontation in real life?
An ass beating is no big deal.
Stubbing your toe hurts worse.
Living the rest of your life in fear would be misery.

Do you actively use your imagination to do so---or does it just--- come to you?
If so, got to treat the mind like a battlefield and repel the evil with positive things.

Not very violent. Even when I think about raping a child, it is done beautifully without much violence. Well except when people are talking constantly on the cinema, then I had the mind to throw the ice cubes in my drink at them.

I'm not a violent person but I do have intrusive thoughts sometimes. They're quite normal though.
It's like I'm sitting there and I have a knife in my hand and I think well I could stab someone with this. Like there is nothing to stop me except that I don't want to do it.
Or if you're driving and you imagine a car in the other lane swerving into your lane. Another popular one is when people think about dropping a baby. I think these thoughts have evolutionary advantage. You have to be able to imagine the worst and be prepared for it. The person that isn't a bit paranoid won't see a danger coming.

Not that violent, but I have a couple crackheads that live across the street that ruin my day everytime I see them. They dont really bother me at all, but they have gross marks all over their faces, they look like zombies and it creeps me out. Every now and then I kind of hope they try to break in my home to pawn my ps4 for dope so I can blow their brains out in a self defense situation.
