View Full Version : How much would Jokic average in the 90s?

A big man that can shoot 3s and pass the ball and create his own shot.

Most players in the 90s were "specialists (meaning they had low skill and could only do one thing well to begin with) on each team.

Most teams had ONE guy that could shoot 3s, one guy that could pass well, one guy with length and scoring ability.

Jokic has it all. If we time warped him back to the grocery bagger era what does he average?

Depends on how well he would handle the more physical centers of those days

Maybe Sabonis numbers :confusedshrug:

Rich mans vlade divas at very least. Feels like an all star some years but a lot of competition tbf. I think any year without one of shaq, Hakeem, drob, Ewing not making it, he

He is not as good as Sabonis.

He can get better for sure, but having watched him against Spurs, I can say he definitely doesn't reach Sabonis best play.

crazy how 92 Dream Team only had to face 2 international players the entire tournament

in Tokyo 2020 there will be minimum 2-3 players from each country that serve on a NBA roster

Jokic would play ring around the rosie with 90's immobile traffic cones, international talent was rare commodity back then.

Let's see him go up against a great defensive big man first.

Sure, he's beasting against a below-average Spurs defense with no true rim protector.

he likely will not see one the whole playoffs however. Kanter would be next and GS doesnt really have much of a center. Hou does have Capela but I wouldnt call him elite.

Australia will field an entire roster of NBA players, for example.

He's a pass first player so it depends on who he was playing with. If he was on a team of scorers he'd be happy getting assists not points.

If he was dominating like this in the 90s you would say someone with his athletic ability couldnt produce same numbers.

He is not as good as Sabonis.

Jokic is more like a healthy version of Jeff Ruland.

Considering he looks like a taller Jeff Hornacek, using my Bran stan logic, I'm going to say he would have a similar career to Hornacek in the 90s.

Daugherty

That's the best response so far. A much better Daugherty. Better shooting and passing and a lot more of of a playmaker. On offense, Jokic would do great in the 90s. On defense though... he would get eaten alive.

jokic's problem defensively is mobility however, he's fine in the post(see his work on aldridge this series for example). Ofc Hakeem and Shaq and a few others would eat him alive but they eat up everyone. Like i dont see just good centers like vlade or kevin duckworth etc doing too much better vs him than they do on average
