View Full Version : Bill Laimbeer: "I'll take LeBron over Jordan everyday of the week"

Hey Yo
04-24-2019, 02:30 PM
🎙️@Chris_Broussard: "What do you think about Jordan being considered the consensus GOAT?"

🎙️Bill Laimbeer: "I'll take 𝗟𝗘𝗕𝗥𝗢𝗡 every day of the week. He came into the league at 18 and understood TEAM BASKETBALL from Day 1. Jordan had to learn that."

Most people don't realize that ball-dominance is a form of selfishness and lebron/westbrook/harden are too ball-dominant to win like MJ or have teams like he had (or other off-ball players, i.e. curry, bird)

Laimbeer doesn't realize that Lebron's abnormal ball-dominance for his position yielded low assist teams his entire career - this is selfish - and being uncoachable to fit into a system is also selfish and hurt the ceiling of his teans

Most people also conflate MJ's high shot attempts with ball-dominance - MJ didn't dominate the ball despite his high volume, which is why guys like Woodridge and Oakley achieved their 2nd career highs alongside him

Please, 3ball, stop calling unselfish pointguards/pointforwards doing THEIR JOBS for selfish....

Call Jordan the GOAT and all that, who cares but one thing you cant take away from Lebron (when comparing him to Jordan) is that he was indeed more unselfish, was more willing to help his teammates offensively, was more willing to pass, Lebron since he was a toddler played THAT way, he played PG his entire life, got drafted PG/SG, played PG, played/plays Point-Forward, has better vision, passing skills than Jordan, HE HAS...... thats not "ball dominance", thats a TRUE POINT GUARD DOING HIS JOB/ROLE... the only reason he didnt start PG all games and dishes 24-7 is because he has great scoring ability aswell, at SF he can let another PG start (help with ballhandling at times as Lebron breaksaway to finish/focus on scoring) or have a PG there that is simply working like a mini SG spotup shooter....

See Magic Johnson with Norm Nixon throughout 1980-84.... very selfish...

Stop dragging yourself down to that stupidity all in honor of riding Jordans jockstrap, yes he is the GOAT, but he wasnt the GOAT at every facet of the game.... many guys were better than him at some facets, heck, even i, i shoot a somewhat better FT% than Jordan. :P

Talk about the ultimate bitch slap to the face, even if it wasn't as ultimate as Zeke having to watch MJ's success on top of not being allowed to play on the dream team.

What sort of run-in, conflict or whatever does Laimbeer have with Jordan? A sweep in 1991, when 95% of the Pistons' core was playing with a rollator coming off two championships, after already beating Jordan three times in a row. You know who he has every right to angry with? Bird, who quite literally stole a title from him in 1987. Magic and Kareem, who took away another championship due to Isiah's ankle, the phantom call in game 6, and the no-call at the buzzer in game 7. The Bad Boys had a chance at a 4-peat. Jordan? He means nothing to them.

Lebron lost 10 of 13 playoff runs, so much more than MJ

Also, MJ getting past the Pistons is like lebron developing this Laker cast and ending the Warriors dynasty when Curry/Durant/Klay are still 29/28/27 years old, like Isiah/dumars/rodman when MJ beat them

And I say ending the Warriors because that's what MJ did - the Pistons were done after that, just like the Spurs "ended" Miami in 14'

Developing a weak cast and toppling a dynasty while 3-peating > team-hopping and going 3/9

Usually when players play with other players in their same era they try to prop them up to make themselves look better. You see so many NBA players do that. They always prop up the players they played against and their own era so that it improves their image as well.

Bill Laimbeer doesn't play that game. It's nice to hear a different take, someone who is keeping it real with everybody and saying yeah we beat up Michael, he was nothing special. I know it's been mentioned before but it needs to be mentioned again, Michael Jordan has a losing record to Isaiah Thomas, Larry Bird, and Hakeem Olajuwon. Most likely the three best players he played against during his own era and Jordan had a losing records against all three of them.
