I just had a sudden urge of watching Deadpool 2 days ago.. so sha'll this move be graced with the presence of being first in a possibly epic thread. It deserves it.

Dark humor, good action, develops into an actually interesting movie, not just jokes...

currently on Deadpool 2, right now.

Great movie

For anyone that's seen it:

How could the guy that called him Bob just be a voice in his head when the doctor saw him too??

Also:

They probably know, from old news, that Cole was shot dead at the airport in 1996. For all you know, that’s probably why he was chosen. All they needed to do was hand him the gun and history would take care of the rest.

this is impossible?!?! They didnt send him back yet in time, so how could they know he'd get shot. Its a time travel, it altered what happened, right. They couldnt have known. Cole saw someone get shot as a boy, but how could it have been him when in 1996 he wasnt there yet, but only in 2035 traveling back. im confused.

The last movie i witnessed was "the story of shogun". absolutely pathetic main character with all sorts of inferior complexes. Cringed throughout the movie and couldnt believe how much a failer the main character was.

Yeah, plot hole. I thought the same when I saw it. I pointed out 5 glaring plot holes to my friend when we watched it. A little hazy now on the rest. The idea was clever, and it's still a great movie, but that annoyed me too. It's an obvious mistake, unless we are both missing something.

Last one I watched was that Aladdin remake. It was what it was. Nothing too special, and in fact a little underwhelming. Not sure why there was a Bollywood dance sequence dead smack in the middle of the movie either.

Toy Story 4

https://i.ibb.co/k1gr9Wk/Toy-Story-4-poster.jpg (https://imgbb.com/)

It was good...objectively I suppose, BUT...it still felt like that old friend who stillcomes around who's still pretty cool but you wish he had stayed in the past so you don't have to associate him with your new adult life and instead can keep him in the "warm childhood memories" category...

But once I let some of the resentment slide the movie started moving along at a brisk pace never leaving me bored or wanting which is of course a hallmark of a well-made flick.

Anyway, fantastic animation and I did enjoy my time with it all the same.

Watched Bambi with my little baby cousin a few days ago.

Never realized that movie is purely about how awful mankind is. Just a bunch of cutesy shit in the woods, with literally no plot at all, until suddenly all the animals panic, die, or watch a fire consume their forest - and the only explanation given is "It was MAN", in this uber somber tone.

Then I realized it came out in 1942. Makes sense.

I most recently watched The Babysitter.

I’d give it a 7-8. It was a good mix of horror and comedy, probably more of a weird satirical comedy than a horror film, though, although it was plenty violent. Plus Samara Weaving is smoking hot.

All you can hope for at this point in the MCU is improvement from the last. Homecoming to me was average to slightly above average, Far From Home was clearly above average. I love the Mysterio illusion sequence showing zombie Iron Man paying tribute to the lore. That whole scene was awesome and kind of scary.

Also towards the end when Peter finally uses his spider sense ability to it's fullness was great. It was a proper Spider-man movie, a tiny cherry on top to close out Phase 3.

I'm definitely looking forward to The Eternals, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love & Thunder. I'm really curious about Doctor Strange since they said they're going to gear that towards a horror theme. Something totally different in the MCU.

A lot was explained to me or at least made sense to me after I searched up explanations...

but the whole him seing himself dying in '96 doesn't really work for my mind. Plus the Bob guy seems an obvious brainfart.

This isnt a romantic movie but man I like Willis' and Stowe's connection here.

good horror thriller

too much horror for me when we saw the clips of the old crew around the last 30 minute mark. With the speaking of hell and evil, that pretty much depicted hell and pure inexplicable evil/insanity for me. numerous things happened there which are just ew, human eye doesnt have to see em. the way it depicted human horror and mysery and fcks with your past or nightmares.. nah. it literally turned into a hannibal episode but way darker. i wrote that as i watched it, they now literally showed images which are supposed to depict hell. i looked away lol

Plot wasn't terrible but it was buried underneath all of his The Rock fanservice. The girl playing his love interest had to be like 20 years younger than him. Dude is almost 50. They could've made this movie with half the budget and had the same appeal. Idris Elba was unnecessary. His role could've been played by anyone.

The 2nd and 3rd MIB are pretty meh in general. This falls in line. Entertaining, but forgettable. Frankly, that is all the movies. Nostalgia has made people overrate ALL of the MIB movies. Ikiru (translates to 'to live')

Great movie (even with subtitles). Parts of it brought tears into my eyes. Truth is many of us can connect with the main protagonist. He is lost until he finds out he has cancer and turns his life around in the last few months he had to live. Akira Kurosawa is a brilliant director and the story resonates with you.

Movie is similar to 'Anand' (indian movie) and 'Up'. If everyone watched Ikiru, Anand and Up, the world would be a better place imo.

Killer cinematography, probably one of the best looking space films to realistically visualize our solar sys. Slow, steady pace throughout. Great build up. Unfortunately ends in a typical straight forward fashion like a diluted mainstream does.

This movie could've really had it but the really mysterious acts (mars/moon pit stops) were drowned out by unrealistic space odyssey in between. And there were lots of em, hail mary miracle and cringe moments. From beginning to end.

The interesting characters just disappear from story altogether. Chick on mars, Old man in beginning, Tommy Lee Jones. Doesn't really let viewers build any connection to anyone in the film except for Pitt.

One n done imo

Watched this over the weekend. Maybe I was already in a bad mood and wasn't trying to have a good time, but I hated it.

Finally got around to watching this.. 4/10. It was bad, really bad.

They could have cut about 40 minutes out of it, seemed to have 3 or 4 end scene type fights.. I can't believe it did so well in the cinemas :facepalm

Well acted movie based on the short novella by King and his son Joe Hill, but there just isn't enough to work with here. The novella was only 68 pages long. This needed to about an hour long in an horror anthology like Masters of Horror or something. As an hour and 40 min movie it just gets dull and long winded.

Event Horizon

Brought to my attention by our own Chewing

good horror thriller

too much horror for me when we saw the clips of the old crew around the last 30 minute mark. With the speaking of hell and evil, that pretty much depicted hell and pure inexplicable evil/insanity for me. numerous things happened there which are just ew, human eye doesnt have to see em. the way it depicted human horror and mysery and fcks with your past or nightmares.. nah. it literally turned into a hannibal episode but way darker. i wrote that as i watched it, they now literally showed images which are supposed to depict hell. i looked away lol

shit didnt even have a properly good ending

well made movie though

im always enticed by thrillers. but my heart needs more stranger than fiction and less event horizon :lol

I didn't even find it that gorey, just really bad cheesy dialogue and the acting sucked ass too. I mean the storyline had potential, something evil (a demon?) brought back into the space ship from some other dimension, possibly hell but the execution was terrible IMO. The movie was panned back when it came out and since then it's gotten a bit of a cult following so I decided to give it a try after reading your post but bro, I was ready to check out midway through the flick :lol

What a beautiful movie.

The cartoonish Cover doesnt do the depth of the story or width of perspectives and life lessons any justice.

In fact, its pretty misleading. Its not that kind of crime, mafia, man vs man movie at all.

Its a movie about overcoming your boundaries, prejudice, morals, love, beauty and excitement of youth and cultural aspects of NY then, and, well, wasted talent.

I don't think its that forgettable. Bale's performance was top notch and racing sequences are some of the best we have seen on the big screen.

8.5

Sweet and careful transition to slowly and eventually identifying with the mob life as he becomes discouraged with his private life and the hurdles his own state puts in his way.

And so, without realizing it too much, Donnie starts to behave/act like a mobster.

Damn. I envy you. One of my favorites. Depp was once a really good actor, and Pacino of course knocked it out of the park. If you hear the REAL wiretaps on Youtube, Pacino's cadence and overall speech is practically identical to the real "Lefty". Incredible performance.

Knives Out was excellent. 9.something out of 10.

Just saw this yesterday. It was great. It's something of a farce comedy with a really well written mystery at the center. I feel like they used to make this kind of movie all the time, but the only thing I can specifically recall is the 80s Clue movie. They even reference it in the movie, saying the guy lives in a Clue house. It's hard to discuss without giving away too much. But it's funny and clever.

Excellent watch though. 9 something out of 10 is fair. Ana de Armas even really sexed down is just staggeringly beautiful. And Rian Johnson I find is a director I like. Looper and Brick are two of my favorite smaller scale movies of the last decade or so. Brick especially is a movie not many people have seen that I find really interesting. It operates at a pace similar to this. He's also got a writing credit for Brothers Bloom, which was a good flick.

I haven't gotten to the movies nearly as much as I used to in the last few years. Too much basketball coaching, but there's a few things this year I really want to see. Parasite particularly is on my list, along with Uncut Gems. I also knocked High Life off my list this weekend, a sci fi thing with Robert Pattinson mostly about semen, that was pretty underwhelming, in spite of what I'd heard.

Korean movies are really f*cking good man. Here's a few main ones.

Oldboy - One of the best revenge stories of all time. A guy gets locked up for no apparent reason and then many years later is let out. His goal is to find out who put him there, why and what happened while he was jailed in a room for so long. Ending is something else.

The Man From Nowhere - I watched this recently. If you dig John Wick, imagine a movie that is similar in vain but probably has 1/2 of the violence/body count and focuses the rest of that time to build its story instead. It seems honestly like the main movie that could have inspired the JW series.

I Saw the Devil - Another revenge movie, on Netflix I think? A serial killer abducts someone right at the beginning of the movie. A person close to that person goes after the serial killer. Don't expect them to meet 95% into the movie like many other movies. Just watch and just like Oldboy, the end is something else.

As a huge Deniro fan I have to say the Irishman was not very good. 6/10 I would rate it. The movie was overly long (and I don’t usually mind long movies), and Deniro and Pacino shouldn’t have been cast in their roles. Pacino ended up doing a decent acting job as Hoffa, but Deniro was just cringe as Sheeran. Really disappointed because I loved Goodfellas, the Departed, Heat, and Casino, but this movie just isn’t in that tier IMO. I would even say Hoffa was a better movie than this.

This movie embodies all of the best aspects of 80s cinema - hilariously corny in the right way with gratuitous amounts of ass kicking, muscles, and swagger. The story is ahead of its time, and probably more effective and relevant today than it was when the movie came out.

Saw Uncut Gems over the weekend too. I also loved it. However I found myself more enamored with the writing and tension of the plot than I was overwhelmed by Sandler's performance, or the Safdie's direction. I did like a lot of the direction style. The claustrophobic feel of the office, and the diamond district in general. I love those sequences where Howard is walking from place to place on the street and seems to know everyone he walks by. I just feel like it could've used a few wider shots to really expose the city more. Sandler was a little over the top for my taste. And as stressful as the situation was, he didn't get that overwhelmed sense except for a few times. His switch to salesman mode was a bit too easy for my taste.

Overall though, the pacing, the tension, and the unique plot, all make for one of the better movies I've seen this year or probably recent years. Having a background in street sports gambling, and being really knowledgeable about New York, I would think helped me with this though. Or maybe it hurt me? Maybe wanting to see more of the city had to do with the fact that I know what that part of the city looks like.

They Live

9/10

This movie embodies all of the best aspects of 80s cinema - hilariously corny in the right way with gratuitous amounts of ass kicking, muscles, and swagger. The story is ahead of its time, and probably more effective and relevant today than it was when the movie came out.

A lot of fun all around

One of my faves.

The Lighthouse

4/10

Willem Dafoe makes it worth watching, and there's some great, trippy visuals when he's on a long monologue. The film technique/coloring makes it seems like he sinks into his beard and he's a moving statue, then you realize that despite how intense all the stuff is saying is, he's giving off that intensity entirely through his eyes. Some great and funny acting by him, but it's really a shallow movie. The movie plot...eh I've seen plenty of dudes go crazy in isolation stories. This one is not one of the better ones.

7/10 - I try to compare this movie to The Edge which is a masterful movie in my opinion that deals with man being hunted by nature in the elements in the Alaskan wilderness. With that being said, The Edge was more realistic and there was a bigger sense of danger throughout the entire movie as the bear was getting closer and closer. In this movie though, the wolves almost seem supernatural with amazing abilities. Also, to my knowledge, this isn't normal behavior by wolves, so it makes it less believable. Neeson is as good as always.

You might wanna watch The Hunter, then... although that one has many different life components IIRC than just the hunt aspects. Oh, and of course he's doing the hunting more than hunted. But I would guess it has a similar feel.

Incidentally, Im just now seing those 2 movies came out the same year and are rated nearly identically, hah.

Richard Jewell - pretty good but a very slow moving movie. Based on the Atlanta olympic bombing. Recommend it on a slow day 7/10

Jumanji - not bad. Fun movie prob the mixup when Devito and Glover are in the rock and kevin hart's bodies is the funniest part, also Jack Black is very good at being a woman lol 7/10

Bombshell - movie about very unlikeable people to begin with, based on Fox scandal. I thought it was a good watch, could not even tell that was Theron as Megyn Kelly and Lithgow did well as Ailes. Another 7/10

Spies in Disguise - it's a cartoon movie so just ignore everything I say here and move onto the next :lol definitely liked it. It's no Pixar quality movie but was entertaining and short. 7.5/10

Little Women - based on the Alcott book. Entertaining and well acted. Becoming a big fan of the Amy chick, she stole the show. Her name is Florence Pugh. Emma Watson who I'm a fan of was meh. The main girl is a great actress Ronan, and she was good as well. Is it a chick flick? Maybe, who knows lol. But I still liked it. 8/10

Just Mercy - powerful movie. Well acted by everyone, even Brie Larson did well. Takes place in Alabama so there's a lot of racism going on. So of course half the movie I'm pissed off watching these scumbags. 8.5/10

1917 - I'll just say it was a great movie but I was sitting next to 2 Italian dudes that would not shut up. Not to mention the seats are so tight even for someone skinny like me at Union Square if you have a jacket. OK back to the movie, just watch it, another movie based on events. The lead guy did his thing, some sad scenes of course and so much death. 8.5/10

City of God - the other movies I watched in theaters. This one I watched at home because I have heard so many great things about. The movie is one of the best I've ever seen. And it wasn't even in English lol. It's a must watch for anyone that hasn't heard of it or watched it. It's from 2002 so it's been a while. Gripping movie about 'hoods' living in the ghetto and gang wars. I can't even come up with a complaint even though I watched it at midnight last night. Stayed awake for all of it. 9.5/10 like I said it's must watch.

You're correct about wolves. Wolves usually avoid humans and there's only a handful of documented cases where wolves attack people. It seems like wolves have it in their DNA to fear humans. Which in turn is a good thing in-my-opinion.

There was a situation though years ago where the guy on Life Below Zero encountered a pack of wolves on a frozen lake in northern Alaska. They were all enjoying a meal of a bull moose carcass. He estimate there was literally about 20 wolves together. He goes out on the ice about 100-150 yards from his cabin, he's a total of about 350 yards away from them. Starts taking pictures. Camera dies. He starts walking back to the cabin to get batteries. About 30 yards from the cabin he turns around to check on the wolves and almost all 20 of them are in full sprint running towards him. They're probably like 200 yards from him he gets his ass back in the cabin and they stop about 50 yards from his cabin.

They go back to the carcass and start feeding. His gets his asss back out there again about the same distances then they start slowly walking towards him. He slowly backs up and eventually makes it back to the cabin.

Obviously for whatever reason these wolves are charging him. Maybe it's the meal and feeding frenzy making them brave? Or the numbers they have? Anyway he gets a rifle and ends up sniping three of them to instill some fear to them as they start charging him a third time. He had this documented on his Facebook page. He would've of killed the wolves if they fear him, but he wants them to fear humans because it's been important for their survival. Plus he lives up there. Those wolves that were killed did not go to waste one bit.

1917

Probably the only movie in history where the is such a huge disparity between cinema experience and home viewing.

If you would watch it on a 60 inch TV at home 2/10

If you watch it in IMAX or Dolby 9/10. Visual stunning and sound borderline orgasmic on the big screen. It should be illegal for this movie to be released on anything else than IMAX experience.

Harry Potter VII: Deathly Hallows Part 2

7.5/10. It's a great movie but not perfect because some will point out that there are obvious parts in which it was different than the actual book itself. The story is kinda sad since some significant characters have died and Hogwarts wasn't the same anymore since Dumbledore was slain by Professor Snape.

The Rise of Skywalker (6/10)

Felt rushed. It was okay. You can tell it was rushed and just tried to fixed many mistakes made in The Last Jedi. Leia's parts to me felt misplaced, Luke felt like he should've been alive and not killed off in the previous movie. I felt they could've done the final confrontation differently with Palpatine. Ben kissing Rey didn't feel right. They should've just had them hugging or forehead to forehead or something.

1917 (8/10)

I like the story. And I love the trickery they did with making the movie feel like one big long shot. It was immersive. Him and his buddy went through hell to get the orders to Cumberbatch.

Joker (8/10)

I was a little slow for my tastes, but Phoenix does an awesome job. I love it as an origins story. Also I didn't mind the way the twisted in Bruce's story slightly too.

I watched Star Wars 9 last night in 4k resolution.. Average movie (6.5/10) overall but writing was junk.. I thought ep8 had weak writing, 9 was even worse.. Half of the movie was spent retconning 8 but with terrible writing, quarter of it was creating random nonsense like healing powers (since when can Jedi heal lightsaber wounds like that?) and quarter of it was rehashing episodes 4-6.. Disney dropped the ball again..

Disney f*cked up having different writing crews for each movie.. Wait 3 years between releases of each episode if alternative year is too much work for a single writing crew but we need continuity.. I am sick to my stomach with what they did to Star Wars..

Watched two brilliant movies over the last few days:-

1) The Gentlemen, A typical Guy Ritchie movie, great cast, right from Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Collin Farrell and even a very different role for Hugh Grant. If you have loved any of Guy Ritchie movies like Snatch, Lock Stock and Smoking Barrels etc, then this one is on the same lines. More than just a fun watch.

2) Papillon, This is based on a true story of criminals being sent to remote jails in French Guiana. Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek excel in their roles of Prisoners who turn friends and make many attempts of escaping from the prison. I thought Rami Malek was just brilliant, really lived that character.

Netflix added Jerry Maguire a few weeks back and I finally decided to check it out. The ratings were good so I said why not

Well... I felt like I wasted my time watching it. I give it a 4/10

Cuba Gooding Jr's character is really annoying cause all he does is shout ever word he says. What blows my mind is that the academy gave him an Oscar for this performance. I don't get it.

The love story between Tom Cruise's character and his employee is so ****ing stupid. He takes her on 1 date, they have sex, and a few days after he proposes to her. They get married and 20 minutes later into the movie she wants to take a "break" because he's always away for work.

The only reason why I didn't give it a 1 is because the ending was kinda nice. Other than that, the characters weren't likeable at all to me and most of the story was flat-out stupid.

These two movies (2019) had very great endings.

Each movie was not executed flawlessly by any means, both films had issues, but they both had great stories and great endings.

M.Night could've made a masterpiece w/ Glass because the story was that good but he completely dropped the ball, Captive State was just too low budget.

release date: September 18, 2015.

True Story Spoiler:

James Joseph "Whitey" Bulger Jr.; (September 3, 1929 – October 30, 2018) was an American organized crime boss and FBI informant who led the Winter Hill Gang in the Winter Hill neighborhood of Somerville, Massachusetts, a city directly northwest of Boston. Federal prosecutors indicted Bulger for nineteen murders based on the grand jury testimony from Kevin Weeks and other former criminal associates. On December 23, 1994, Bulger fled the Boston area and went into hiding after his former FBI handler, John Connolly, tipped him off about a pending RICO indictment against him. Bulger remained at large for sixteen years.

However adamantly denied by Bulger, the FBI admitted that he served as an informant for several years starting in 1975. Bulger provided information about the inner workings of the Patriarca crime family, his Italian-American Mafia rivals based in Rhode Island. In return, Connolly, as Bulger's FBI handler, ensured that the Winter Hill Gang effectively went ignored. Beginning in 1997, the news media exposed various criminal misconduct by officials tied to Bulger from federal, state, and local law enforcement. This caused great embarrassment to each of these agencies, but none more so than the FBI.

Bulger was finally apprehended along with his longtime girlfriend Catherine Greig outside an apartment complex in Santa Monica, California on June 22, 2011. By then he was 81 years old. Bulger and Greig were then promptly extradited to Boston and taken under heavy guard to the United States Courthouse, which had to be partially closed for their arrival. In June 2012, Greig pleaded guilty to conspiracy to harbor a fugitive, identity fraud, and conspiracy to commit identity fraud, receiving a sentence of eight years in prison. Bulger declined to seek bail and remained in custody.

Bulger's trial began on June 12, 2013. He was tried on 32 counts of racketeering, money laundering, extortion and weapons charges, including complicity in nineteen murders. On August 12, Bulger was found guilty on 31 counts, including both racketeering charges, and was found to have been involved in eleven murders. On November 14, he received two consecutive life sentences plus five years for his crimes by U.S. District Judge Denise J.

Wasn't great, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the critics said it was. It had some good moments.

was much better than X-Men: Apocalypse IMO.

1. Days of Future Past (2014) - 9.5/10
2. First Class (2011) - 7.5/10
3. Dark Phoenix (2019) - 7/10
4. Apocalypse (2016) - 6/10

In Dark Phoenix, Chastain plays a character named Vuk, a member of the alien race known as the D’Bari whose original star system home was destroyed by the Phoenix force. In the comics, the D’Bari first appeared in Avengers vol. 1 #4, released in March 1964. Vuk (in that telling, a male D’Bari) was off-world when the Phoenix destroyed his planet, launching him into an arc of vengeance that sees him come to earth to attack the X-Men.

In the film, Chastain’s character follows a mostly similar path: she leads a group of shape-shifting D’Bari to earth in search of the Phoenix Force. However, it’s not clear when the decision was made to make Chastain’s character resemble the comics counterpart (the D’Bari aren’t shape-shifters in the source material as they are in the film). James McAvoy, who plays Professor Charles Xavier, recently revealed that the entire third act of Dark Phoenix was re-shot, altering much of the story.

I have to watch the snowden movie. I'll do so maybe today. I don't think I've seen Get rich or die tryin yet. I'll give that a go as well.

Straight Outta Compton - 10/10. The acting was just superb in this movie man. All around ridiculous performance from everyone including cubes son. Knight is a ****ed up guy. All around. In 2003 on Jimmy Kimmel he literally admits about using HIV as a weapon and referenced Ez. Nuts.
