If 100 Penny makes 1 Dame Dollar, what would be Penny's rank if we rank Damian Lillard at #100.

DAMN!!! I don't think u can even rank Penny that high in the GOAT sense! He was a 4 time All Star and 3 time All NBA! The injury bug caught Penny EARLY as hell in his run! Went from being the best PG and 2nd best guard in the world to a very good player kind of quick. Penny at BASICALLY two years on top of the basketball world! Where he and G Hill IN TANDEM were being seen as the heir apparent to MJ! The marketable, good looking, mid sized, freak athletic perimeter superstar that the league can build itself around. I think top 100 AT BEST is what u could give Penny.
Now if we are talking peak wise, Penny was on track to be possibly the best PG of all time in my opinion. But his prime years were cut WAY SHORT! Because he was the first guy to be seen as a combination of MJ and Magic. He was NEXT IN LINE to take the big PG to the next level. He was LITERALLY the total package of scoring skillset, killer instinct, passing ability, and freak athletic ability at 6'7.
He was a big PG who could DEFEND the smaller PG's well too. U didn't have to do cross matchups. And Penny Didn't have to turn his back when pressured by smaller PG's. BECAUSE Penny had THEIR dexterity and quickness with the rock. Magic had great ball control handles of course. BUT he didn't have the level of handles that Penny had!

Yeah Penny has no business getting ranked in an all-time list but if we're going off of potential he could have retired as the 2nd greatest PG ever
He was a great player, the Rose of the 90s in many ways

He wasn't as good as people like to remember. He gets a boost for having his career cut short.

The body of work isn't there to give him a a fair ranking over guys who, while they may have been worse players( and that list is long), enjoyed longer and more prolific/decorated careers. Like, I don't think someone like a Joe Dumars type was ever as good as Penny, but you wouldn't really rank Penny ahead of him, would you? Penny is unfortunately one of those 'what could have been players' that you appreciate what they brought to the table in a bubble. It's unfair to rank him over worse player/better career types when his career was pretty much a solid rookie campaign, an all-star 2nd year, legit superstar 3rd and 4th years. Everything after that post-injuries ranged from flashes of former brilliance to role player till he was out of the league. I'm also in the boat that liked Grant Hill's overall game a little better when they were both balling.

I agree that Hill was a little better than Penny at their best. Penny had a better scoring skillset. BUT besides that, Hill could do EVERYTHING Penny could do just as good or a bit better. Plus was bigger, a freak athlete himself, the ultimate triple double threat, and could play or defend PG to PF.
For all intents and purposes, Hill was the PRECURSOR to Lebron. G Hill took what Pip was doing to the next level BECAUSE he evolved into a more dominant scorer! Hill was the next guy AFTER Penny who started being seen as a combo of MJ and Magic by many people.
And to be frank Hill was more similar to Magic in some ways than Penny, Because Hill's triple double ability AND positional versatility was more similar to Magic. But since Penny was a big point guard and had great passing imagination like Magic, he justly got the Magic comparison too.

Yeah, for the most part Penny was the more creative passer and that's where the Magic comparisons came from. Hill being a bit bigger added the better rebounding component while being a very good passer in his own right, and was trending upwards as a scorer when he got injured. Being a template for Lebron is about the apt analogy. Grant was smoother than Lebron, a little more finesse, not quite as athletic, a little better handle, not quite able to physically impose himself as Bron can.

Awesome talent. This is from his college days. We only got to see this Penny for about 3-4 years before his knee injury took him out. He was on a clear path to being a HOF'er.

top 75? top 80?
Maybe yeah but at in the mid 90's before the injuries he was as talented as any point gaurd ever other than magic. If not for the injuries he would of been one of the best point gaurds ever.
