View Full Version : Houston Rockets: The least likable team in 20 years?

Does anyone else absolutely hate the Houston Rockets?

The only time I've ever rooted for the Warriors during their run is when they've played the Rockets the last two years.

-Chris Paul is biggest cry baby in league history.
-James Harden is the most boring, referee dependent superstar ever.
-Mike D'Antoni makes zero in game adjustments and always looks like he is whining.
-No team has ever been as good at such a boring style of play.

Seriously the nerve of Paul or Harden to complain about calls when it was only because of six really bad fouls calls that went in their favor that they were even in the game.

Am I alone on this, or do other people hate the Rockets too?

Warriors are up there.

Yes, you are not the only.

CP0 and Harden are the two most despicable players in the league, and while D'Antoni seems like a decent guy, is content to just let his team jack 3s with zero adjustments. It's great to watch them lose and meltdown.

20 years still gets us a tiny piece of Rileys first Heat run as they all scowled their way into losing every big series.

I hate James Harden more than anyone in the history of the game other than maybe Vlade Divac. It's pretty close.

I was a big fan when he came into the league. I've lost more and more appreciation for him every year.

I love Vlade.

for most its the warriors

this is why league wide ratings have dropped considerably since 2016/2017

this years first round was down TWENTY % from last year.

look at it this way

rockets only doing their best and the only thing they can do to keep up with such an OP assembled team (shoot 3's)

D'Antoni is alright when calls aren't going against him all night

paul is alright anyhow

Lol, they couldn't beat the Knicks if their lives depended on it. Lost 3 straight win or go home games to them on their home court, including losing by literally 1 point b2b years. Then they followed that up with an embarrassing sweep to Charlotte

I think the garbage rules also played a role. Not that the Warriors dominance may have also hurt it, but I think the rules caused some damage this year. Haven't watched anywhere near as much as I usually do this year because of it. Or watch a game and stop at a certain point when I see what "fouls" they call.

The fact I easily hate the Rockets more than the Warriors really speaks volumes tbh

Amazing for a team that hasn't even won anything and won't win anything...

As a few have already mentioned the only reason I don't hate the Warriors dynasty is BECAUSE of the Rockets. They're the "good guys" in comparison to what the league can turn into if the Rockets have any lasting success

The way they play and approach basketball just goes against what I've always enjoyed about the sport since I started watching. Shoot 3s and layups, forget the midrange and post game, and they take their philosophy to an unhealthy extreme

Funny enough the Warriors keep it balanced, they do a bit of everything but they ultimately play around their personal. That's the secret

i dont really. It's a boring style to watch but they're the first to go all out with this "ridiculous" style and I can understand trying to win at all costs. It helps that I like Paul and Gordon a lot(and yes Paul is whiny ik). Tucker is a dream role player, think anyone can respect him at least.

I think it's some wishful thinking to believe this style doesnt work even if they havent won anything yet and likely wont this year. It's people telling themselves that because they understandably hate the style. They want to believe midrange/post game is still the way to go and it does have more value in the playoffs but most of the league, not just the Rockets dont value it heavily anymore. The Spurs tried being an exception and did pretty well honestly but still couldnt win 50 games or get out of the first round with two all stars essentially(in many eras). Ofc they still take 25 3's a game too lol.

Small ball has become less and less of a thing in baseball(stealing bases, sac bunts, pitchouts, intentional walks etc). NFL fans eventually got over using just the rules reason to explain why most teams were passing 40+ times a game. Basketball fans will have to accept the state of our league too or just stop watching which I've honestly seen with some people. Reducing fouls could help fan interest and make the rockets especially less unwatchable like at least penalizing those intentional fouls stopping fast breaks
