View Full Version : What if 2009 Dwight got Wade/Bosh instead of Lebron?

How many Finals for Dwight vs. Lebron going forward? (assuming good health)

Lebron couldn't get past Dwight normally, so what would he do now that Dwight has a super-team??

Kobe got Dwight after the back injury

The OP assumes Wade/Bosh get a healthy, prime dwight - the same one that exposed Lebron

So how many Finals for Dwight vs. Lebron going forward if Dwight got Wade/Bosh instead of Lebron??

Doesn't feel quite fair when 1 guy teams up, does it? :kobe:

They win zero titles

Wheres the shooting? Wheres the depth?

Not to mention Wade/Bosh fell off a cliff shortly after teaming with LeBron...

So in that scenario you have three players whose career go downhill after injuries

So zero titles.

What would happen to lebron though - he couldn't beat Dwight straight-up, so what happens if Dwight got Wade/Bosh as well?

Btw, Wade was lights out in the 2014 ECF - his 20/5/5 on 55% was better than 90% of Pippen's series.. Wade only played bad in those Finals because the whole team was playing bad - this included lebron, played worse than Wade when the games were being contested

So your claims needed fact checks - Wade was in his prime in 2011 and 2012, and still very good in 2013/2014 (a legit all-star thru 2016).. and Bosh was mostly in his prime and a perennial all-star thru 2016

he only carried a star-less cast ONE TIME when everyone else was doing it too (Dwight, AI, Kidd)

he otherwise needed super-teams from 11-17', and a perennial all-star 2nd option in 18'.. and a very weak conference overall of course (no playoffs in the West)

He infact left Cleveland in 10' because he couldn't beat Dwight and make the Finals like he did in 07'... But again, what if Dwight had teamed up instead? How many Finals for lebron??

Why not? :confusedshrug:
HOF's Isiah/dumars/rodman were only 29/27/28 years old when MJ beat them in 1991 - plus the Pistons had 2 additional 3x all-stars (laimbeer/aguirre)

So MJ beat a much better team - his bulls only had 1 HOF pippen.. that's it

Lebron never beat b2b champs and needed an extra all-star for all his rings.. he was also never a 1 man show - he needed an equal scoring partner and closer, whereas MJ was the closer and always scored 10-20 more than pip to win all Finals

MJ led the bulls in assists for 6 of 9 playoff runs alongside Pippen, including 3 championship runs (91/93/97)

In addition to MJ's team-leading passing, he's averaged 10-20 more than pippen to win every Finals, while lebron needs an equal scoring partner and closer to win a Finals

^^^ Those stats show MJ carrying his 2nd option in a way lebron never did, or anyone else in history, except for Wilt

PPG

17' Lebron - 26.4
17' K Irving - 25.2

15' Lebron - 25.3
15' K Irving - 21.7

16' Lebron - 25.3

lebron only averaged 1-5 more than Kyrie, and only averaged 1-7 more than Wade from 11-14', while MJ scored 10-28 more than pippen between 88-98', with more assists

Also, lebron had HOF's at 3rd option, while grant was a role player.. ultimately, MJ won 6 rings with 1 all-star teammate (6 appearances), while lebron needed 6 all-stars (15 appearances) to win only 3 rings..

Lebron needed a near-equal scoring partner (within 2-5 points), while MJ won all Finals as a 1 man show that commanded full the defensive attention (10-20 more than 2nd option)

Kyrie/Wade were considered lethal scorers and closers that commanded double teams, while pippen virtually never commanded a double, closed or was considered a lethal scorer

MJ wins PER, WS/48, ORtg - the more important and reliable stats (drtg favors defensive rebounders)
